Before you leave hear me out, the SQUIP is supposed to be a supercomputer that runs on facts and logic and is supposed to help it's host. What if it saw the best way to help Jeremy was by pretending to try to take over the entire student body so Jeremy could stop it and be the hero of the hour?- The SQUIP tells Jeremy in the first act "A shared negative opinion is the fastest social bond. You want someone to like you? Hate who they hate." The SQUIP became the bad guy and controlled Jeremy's peers, and once he was stopped, everyone bonded over hating the SQUIP. After all, what is friendship but a bond between two people?
