- In the original manga, "Tiphares" is called "Zalem", which can be interpreted as a shortening of "Jerusalem".
- Zalem is settled up into the "sky", high above the ground, and supposedly inhabited by a selected elite, just like the Celestial Jérusalem would be.
- Life on the scrapyard is a Crapsack World veering towards Hell on Earth. Basically, all the "scum" people unworthy of Zalem live there, deserving it or not.
- Of course this only works if one considers the premise and doesn't go too deep into the course of the story to discover Zalem's awful secrets.

- Battlestar Galactica: The remaining 10 copies of Alita/Gally/Gunnm are the ancestors of the Cylons via reverse engineering what little bits of them were left by Six/Sechs.
- WALL•E: Kaos clearly lives in Wall-E's truck; the Venusians are from a Star Cruiser that never returned to Earth; the robots of Jeru are Obake-like counterparts of the Axiom robots.

- Claymore: Den is clearly the ancestor of the Northern Awakened Being

The "Angel" of Mars is Alita's friend Erika from 200 years ago
The hair matches, and she's the only other person who knows Panzer Kunst (and can still use it). Alternatively, the "Angel" is Alita's brain in a body that looks like her friend, courtesy of Super Nova (it's a dick move and he'd totally do it) OR (and this is more likely) Mbadi's panzer kunst-master lackey in a similar body due to the fact that the last we see of Super Nova he'd claimed the lackey's squished head and was headed to Mars.- Confirmed. It is indeed Erika, though they have since fallen out, and Alita has actually killed her 200 years ago. The current Frau X is a Necro Soldier.
The original ending was a dream
Alita's mind was playing tricks on her wile she was floating between life and death after Nova blew her to pieces and she only woke up for real at the beginning of Last order. It was a lucid dream too because everything suddenly started to go exactly the way she wanted. Including saving Lou, morally defeating Nova, uniting the world and even becoming a real girl. Too bad sweet dreams always end.- Given the similarities between a few things, this would imply Alita had some of the capacity to predict the future as well.
'Mars Chronicle' inspired OPAL
'Mars Chronicle' Log_012a and b, but especially the latter part, mimic the execution and reveal of Jack Stauber's [adult swim] smalls OPAL.- In Log_012a it sets up an ideal home and life for Erica's backstory through Erica's description to Yoko.
- In Log_012b it reveals the ruins of Erica's home and as she surveys the ruins she is reminded of her actual past and the abuse she faced at the hands of her other family members and in her incredulity she climbs up the stairs and looks out the upmost window of the house to an adjacent billboard which describes the exact fantasy that she had described to Yoko in the previous chapter, triggering her memories of how the house ended up ruined in the first place
- Erica is described as beautiful and kind like an angel in comparison to her abusive parents who were wrecked by the world around them.
