Alien 3 and Resurrection were all just Ripley/Newt's dream in hypersleep
So hated was this sequel by some fans of Alien/Aliens the theory was born that it wasn't real. Before entering their cryo-pods Newt asks Ripley can she dream and Ripley replies that they both can. Hence why both movies have a fantastical and disjointed atmosphere about them.
The Dragon attacked Ripley at the end, not out of rage...
But because it knew the Queen inside her was ready to come out, the hosts health didn't matter anymore.
