Yurika really is a vampire.
Or, rather, half-vampire. Her shy personality we see in her first episode is actually the result of a split personality she gained as the two sides fight for control of her body. As she gets older, her vampire side has started to take over, which is why we haven't seen her shy side much since. However, her human side occasionally shines through, explaining why she is Tsundere instead of just plain Jerkass. Her human side is enough to stop her vampire weakness to garlic from doing serious damage, but also leaves her with less vampire powers, which her vampire self has deluded herself from, explaining why she claims to be able to suck blood, but never has. Also, most vampires require no sustenance besides blood, but her human side does, so even in vampire mode she drinks things like tomato juice that satisfy both sides.- Perhaps her vampire parent left while she was young, and/or she was bullied as a child for her strange tendencies as her split personality began to emerge, causing her people issues.
- This could also explain her Mystical White Hair and her love of European dolls and fashion, which are strange things for Japanese children to be exposed to.
Adding to the above theory, the Loli-Gothic designer is her father.
He left when she was a child, and eventually became interested in fashion. He based his designs off of what his daughter liked, hoping that she would take notice and he would eventually be able to meet her again. He may have lied about how many years he has been alive as to not rouse her suspicions.- Alternitively, neither of them are vampires, but he is her father, and she took up the vampire act after he left as a way to acknowledge him, remembering that he used to do the same thing.

Yurika's initial reluctance to forming a duo with Kaede is due to prior scandal trauma
She may be worried another scandal may arise from such a duo from her dialogue regarding the issue, and Kaede doesn't even know about the scandal until 10 episodes later. If the third season exists, the entire cast will be replaced a la Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live.
- The first two seasons' plot follows Pretty Rhythm series closely, so the next season would follow suit too.
- Mostly jossed, but the focus would shift to Akari with her new teammates.
Mizuki is the anime's Big Bad, or the closest it will have to one.
- Just for fun
- Even if the show has No Antagonist, as of Season 2 Mizuki’s WM is like the Final Boss for everyone else so kind of?
Shion will be the one to wear the Premium Rare Constellation Dress for Gemini.
- Jossed. Ichigo and Seira would be wearing them.
A Wholesome Crossdresser idol will join the cast in the future.
- If PriPara can pull it off, something tells me Aikatsu can too.
- Within the world of Aikatsu, idols live within the on-campus dorms, so the girls probably wouldn't appreciate having to room up with a boy, as feminine as he may appear. A solution to introduce one would be to do so alongside a female sibling, which would be ripping off PriPara, but appears to be the only plausible way to include one.
Aikatsu takes place in the same universe as Serial Experiments Lain
- With the certain cards pointing out the year, as well as looking at a calendar in the movie, one can deduce that the series takes place in Present Day... Present Time! But like Serial Experiments Lain, despite it apparently running during the present day, there are several significant technological advancements that currently don't exist in real life. In the Aikatsu universe, the most apparent change is the presence of the Aikatsu system. Due to the digital nature of performances, it can be assumed that the Aikatsu system utilizes The Wired in order to function, especially when you consider things like the internet integration aspect of Aikatsu. In Serial Experiments Lain, most avatars in The Wired are very simple and not complex, but in the years between Serial Experiments Lain's Present Day (1998) and Aikatsu's Present Day (2012-2015), technology must have greatly improved. You can tell that the Aikatsu system as it is in the present series has developed a lot throughout the years, as evidenced by old Masquerade live shows, where people have glow sticks instead of headsets and there are no digital effects (but Aikatsu cards still existed at the time). Given the fact that Miya must have become pregnant with Ichigo some time near or after her quitting Masquerade, we can guess that the last Masquerade live show takes place at least 13 years before the start of the series, which matches up closely with the Serial Experiments Lain Present Day. Also, Ichigo's dad is a Time Lord.
Aikatsu Stars is set in the same universe as Aikatsu.
- The current singing idol unit share the same name, which is a big hint. The characters might bump into each other too.
- Depends of the adaptation. Aikatsu! Photo on Stage!! has Aikatsu Stars characters in it, as well as an original song sung by Ichigo, Akari and Yume.
- Although it was initially jossed in both video game and anime with the introduction of Star Premium Rares (as in episode 51 of Stars!, Laura was shocked with the fact that Elza's coord had wings, while in the original franchise there have already been winged coords), the 5th anniversary crossover episodes eventually confirm it. However, regarding Yume being unaware of Luminas, which became a famous unit in the original anime, many people consider the aforementioned episodes as non-canon.
Ran has an one-sided crush on Raichi Hoshimiya.
- In episode 18, Ichigo, Aoi and Ran quietly talk about their classmates possibility making chocolate for a boy they like on Valentine's Day. Aoi states that may be just making them just for their fellow classmates, but Ran suddenly drops that its okay if they liked someone if it was "one-sided". This shocks both Ichigo and Aoi, considering it was Ran, not just seven episodes earlier, that stated "idols were absolutely forbidden to love," with a somewhat flustered Ran trying to refute it by saying that she never said "absolutely" then and that they they should not get the wrong idea, making the two even more suspicious of her. Later that episode, Raichi disguises himself as a girl to sneak into Starlight Academy once he heard that his crush Aoi was making chocolate, in which he encounters Ran again, who he first met back in episode 6. Despite her initial annoyance, she shyly smiles when the younger boy waves hi to her. Just to top it off for the episode for this, Ran makes chocolate for her friends, but waited till Valentine's Day to give it to them, although she did not seem to mind when Raichi got an early taste of a piece. There's also episode 22, where she is the first idol Raichi sniffs out in the movie theater and at the end of the episode pats him on the head and gives a fist pump after gaining some praise from him, and episode 178 where she's is either next or close to him in a few scenes. There's also a rather surprising noncommittal answer Raichi gives when Ichigo wonders about his love of Aoi in a late season 2 episode, implying he may be interested in other girls, though Ran would still have to contend with Noel and perhaps other idols if she wants to truly win him over. That's if the writers actually remember their brief interactions early on in the series...
The opening and ending themes of Aikatsu hint at a hidden depth
- Many of the lyrics in songs like Signalize or Tutu Ballerina talk about themes that are almost completely unrelated to the plot of the anime. Signalize in particular has lyrics talking about the end and rebirth of the universe and the prospect of life being a miserable dream. It could be these songs are some sort of prophecy, a sad dream by one of the characters or some sort of metaphor for the true event. Perhaps it’s a Show Within a Show type deal and the real story is what’s being told in these songs.
- The ending song “Precious” is explicitly a metaphor for the series, showing a dream of Ichigo as a fairytale princess getting her wish granted by a Mizuki look-alike and eventually becoming a princess, pretty much retelling the story of how Ichigo was inspired and got her dream granted by Mizuki, eventually becoming a top idol alongside her.
- The song Tutu Ballerina talks about a ballerina who refuses to sleep or rest her eyes and who struggles to find happiness in her life. Much like Mizuki who worked so hard that she had refused to rest, causing her to hurt herself. Its also possible it alludes to her being lonely and not truly happy being the top idol.
- Shining Line becomes very much a meta telling, with lyrics such as “Let me listen, whose story is this? I found it, this was my story” almost making it seem like the characters talking about them and being aware they’re a story in themselves.
- It’s very possible they’re simply the character telling their own stories in song form
