Royale Harem is an upcoming free Furry Fandom Transformation Fiction Visual Novel developed by SlushyAnimals. Version 0.1 was uploaded to itch.io on September 6, 2023, with a full release at an unknown future date; the public release is currently at Version 0.9 as of April 2024, with supporters of SlushyAnimals' Patreon account getting early access to a later version. The finished product will be intended for adult audiences, but early financial supporters could gain early access to such content for the initially available routes.
The story focuses on Lewis, an ocelot bastard child in a royal family of lions, who must compete to earn his birthright and prove his worth to both relatives and rival royal families. Although he has access to powerful magic, so does the competition, and it will take some sneaky alliances, overcoming great peril, and a little bit of romance in order to reign supreme and make Lewis' dreams of world peace, and of a personal harem of former rivals, come true.
Please note that, despite the similar titles, this is not an adaptation of Harem Royale - When the Game Ends -.
Tropes:
- Decadent Court: The nobles that Lewis must compete against, including his own relatives, eagerly scheme against each other in order to increase their own power (both political and magical) at the expense of others.
- Fake Memories: While some transformations in the story have the transformed character fully aware of the change in order to humble them, others change reality so they've always been their new form or felt their current feelings to ensure their obedience and prevent them from trying to retaliate later.
- Forced Transformation: The core of the game. Every time a participant loses a challenge, they gain a light mote which marks them as vulnerable. Winners of the challenges are given Influence-in the form of golden coins-which they can spend to alter or transform vulnerable persons.
- Fountain of Youth: The 0.9 update added an Age Regression transformation for Gethra, returning her physically to her 20's (and mentally as well if Lewis wants).
- Gender Bender: The game's store page lists "gender transformations" as part of the story's contents. Depending on Lewis' actions, he can either lose to another royal that's only interested in women and be subjected to this, or turn the tables and change the gender of one of his own rivals. Though initially focusing on Masculine-to-Feminine transformations, the 0.10 update (exclusive to Patreon in April 2024 but some details revealed publicly) gives every character in the game a gender transformation.
- Heroic Bastard: Lewis, the story's protagonist whose goal is ultimately to attain world peace, is the bastard ocelot son of a royal family of lions.
- Magical Species Transformation: One of the transformations introduced in the version 0.5 update enables Lewis to swap lives with a member of the Draconoclast Court, transforming the ocelot into a dragon with fish-like characteristics.
- Mind Control: Influence can be spent to alter someone's attitude or beliefs as much as their body.
- Reality Warper: The game's store page lists "reality shifts" as part of the story's contents. In the story itself, some royals that prove victorious over others are able to magically rewrite the loser's history, with physical evidence that their current state has retroactively become their normal form.
- Royal Harem: The story revolves around a competition between royal factions in which the losers become members of the winner's harem.
- Sobriquet Sex Switch: If they become the victims of Gender Bender, Lewis will have their name changed to Lois, and Akarion will have their name changed to Akari.
