Please note that this page and the Game Mod it covers contain MAJOR spoilers for Doki Doki Literature Club! If you have not played that game, it is strongly recommended that you do so before reading this page or playing the mod, as doing either first is very likely to ruin your experience.

Can you save them all?

Our Final Heartbeat (formerly known as simply DDLC!!!) is a fan-made Game Mod of Doki Doki Literature Club! created by NNDanny, which continues from the game's Golden Ending, in which the player and a mysterious entity try to save the girls from their fate and give them the happy ending they deserve.

It can be downloaded for free here. Though for the mod to run, it's mandatory to achieve the game's Golden Ending first.

This mod contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Abusive Dad: Unlike the actual game, Natsuki's father makes an appearance here, serving as the main antagonist of Act 3 (though unlike the girls, he doesn't get a character model).
  • Adaptation Expansion: The mod adds additional scenes with Sayori and a whole new chapter dedicated to Natsuki.
  • The Atoner: Deleted Monika's reason to help you, in order to make up for her actions during the actual game.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The mod is split in four acts, one for each girl.
    • Act 1 is a rehash of the game's Act 1. However, it has additional scenes with Sayori in which you can find a way to stop her from committing suicide.
    • The same can be said for Act 2 and Yuri.
    • Act 3 is a completely original story that focuses on Natsuki, in which the Player has to protect her from her Abusive Dad.
    • And finally, Act 4 is a reprise of the game's Act 3, in which the player with the help of Deleted Monika has to convince Monika to abandon her obsessive and evil ways, this time without deleting her character file.
  • Corrupt Cop: Natsuki's dad is revealed to be this.
  • Dwindling Party: Non lethal example. The girl an act was focused on will be deleted from the game before advancing towards the next act. By Act 3, only Natsuki and Monika appear in the main menu. They do get restored once the ending has been achieved.
  • Fix Fic:
    • The whole point of the mod is to give the girls a happier ending than the one they got in canon.
    • One of the game's most heard complaints is how little Character Focus Natsuki got compared to the other three girls, and her abusive home life is barely explored. In this mod, Act 3 is almost solely devoted to her, and does flesh out her relationship with her Abusive Dad.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: As stated above, the whole point of the mod.
  • Golden Ending: Again, the whole point of the mod is to serve as this to the main game.
  • I Hate Past Me: Deleted Monika doesn't have a very high opinion of her past self, and is genuinely surprised when the Player states his intention to save her.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Played with. Even if you chose to spend more time with Sayori and cheered her up, the day of the festival you find out that she isn't in the school, and Monika even makes the same remark about "leaving her hanging". Then you return to her house, gently open the door... and find her room empty. Fortunately, it turns out Sayori merely went to take a walk outside to do some thinking, before going to your house.
  • Player Character: Like in the game, the Player Character and the Player are different beings, though the distinction is far more explicit here.
  • No One Gets Left Behind: No one, not even Monika.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Again, the whole plot of the game in general, though Acts 1 and 2 in particular as well, given that they focus on stopping Sayori and Yuri from killing themselves.
  • Shout-Out: Natsuki makes quite a few manga and anime references during her chapter, such as Dragon Ball or Attack on Titan.
  • The Stinger: After the credits roll, we're treated to a scene in which the Literature Club has become really popular during the past weeks, and the girls welcome a new, unseen member into their club.
