Juno, the titular Protogen once again
My Furry Protogen 2 is a Visual Novel by Dirty Fox Games, released as part of its My Furry novel series, and the sequel to My Furry Protogen. The novel was released through Steam on January 27, 2024. As with the original title, it has an official, but optional, patch to add adult-oriented content.

The story of Protogen scientist Juno and her beloved male hero continues, having found new clues to help locate their enemy and new gear to fight them with. Their relationship has also grown over time, but having come from two different worlds, not all of their desires are perfectly aligned. Can they overcome the challenges before them, both emotional and life-threatening, and complete their mission before tragedy strikes again?

Tropes:

  • Art Evolution: The original My Furry Protogen was a kinetic novel, and the only character with a Character Portrait was the main love interest, Juno the Protogen. In this work, not only are there multiple choices, and multiple characters with portraits, but also Juno herself now has multiple portraits, such as a coat and scarf for snowy territory.
  • Hotter and Sexier: In the original My Furry Protogen, the optional adult content didn't actually occur until the halfway point of the story, since Juno and the protagonist need time to address their personal issues and get close to each other. In this novel, now that they're already in an established relationship, such content occurs very early in the narrative.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Early on, Juno makes a comment about how amazed she is over the protagonist's adaptability to tech his culture never developed, reminding him of his Nightmare Sequence and how his culture no longer exists; Juno immediately apologises upon seeing his reaction.
  • Like Brother and Sister: One of the new characters introduced is Juno's sister, with the male hero surprised to learn Juno has one that was never mentioned in the past two years. Juno reminds him that Protogen are genetically engineered instead of born and thus they're not related in the traditional sense, but they were developed in the same batch and grew up together, so Juno thinks of her as an honorary sibling even though they now tend to live separate lives.
  • Nightmare Sequence: The story starts with the protagonist back in his village with his parents, telling them about how he's going to propose to Juno, before everyone but him suddenly dies and he wakes up in his room in Juno's spaceship.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Pixie, the artificial intelligence of Juno's ship, is stated to switch between masculine and feminine voices at times, with Juno having told the protagonist during the Time Skip that they don't have a set gender.
  • Sarashi: One of Juno's new outfits, as seen in this promotional image, has her wearing a layer of bandage wrap instead of a top after surviving something dangerous.
  • Time Skip: This story starts two years after the events of the previous work, with Juno and the male human protagonist having spent the time tracking the source of The Plague that killed the human's village.
