Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 4 is a fangame in the Ace Attorney series. It serves as a direct sequel to Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, though it also takes place in the same universe as and expects you to be familiar with later games in the series, including Dual Destinies, Spirit of Justice, and the Investigations spinoffs.

Set in the year 2029, it continues to follow the career of Apollo Justice, who is forced to find a new underage magician assistant after every other character from AJ1 leaves for Hawaii. He soon becomes acquainted with a brand new cast of characters, and, of course, becomes involved in a number of unusual murders and cases.

The game is currently in development, with only the first two cases completed. You can download it here.

As the game is a continuation to Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, and features references and spoilers for later and earlier games in the series, spoilers for those games will be unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 4 provides examples of:

  • Absence of Evidence:
    • In the first case, the lack of blood around the gunshot wounds in the crime photo is used to prove the victim had died long before being shot.
    • Similarly, in the second case, the lack of blood on the carpet that the victim supposedly died on is proof that the victim died somewhere else.
  • Amoral Attorney: Apollo Justice himself. At one point, he even admits that he doesn't actually care whether the one he accuses is guilty or not.
  • Anachronic Order: The game's first case is set after the second and third.
  • Asshole Victim: As in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, this applies to essentially every victim:
    • In the second case, Barack Obama attempted to create a law banning all horniness solely because of spite from being rejected 20 years ago.
    • In the first case, Stealphie was known to carry a copy of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All on them at all times.
  • Blatant Lies: At one point, the player is given the option to claim that they don't game, despite being playing Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 4 at the time.
  • Brown Note: smirkhuman, the symbol of the anti-horny terrorist organization of the same name, which apparently induces a heart attack in Stealphie when he sees it.
  • The Chew Toy: Lauren. Initially approaching the Wright Anything Agency for help, she's quickly rejected, and later suddenly accused by Apollo as soon as the trial for Barack Obama's murder begins, despite at the time seeming to have absolutely no relation to the case at all, and is dragged to the stand to testify. Throughout the trial, she continues to be bullied by Apollo and his assistant. She's eventually found guilty of the murder, despite continuing to insist she didn't do it the whole time. Justified, as Lauren is treated this way for being British.
  • The Faceless: Atmey, whose body literally ends at the shoulders.
  • Flat "What": Vogel's reaction to Apollo pointing out that Obama was bleeding an unusual amount for one gunshot from a small gun.
  • Framing the Guilty Party: Attempted by pichuis, who, after witnessing someone post smirkhuman and cause a heart attack in Stealphie, attempts to frame the one who posted it despite not knowing the exact person who posted it, even Faking the Dead by disguising Stealphie's corpse as himself and hiding by masquerading as a court bailiff, so he would be believed to be the victim. Ultimately, the frame-up fails, as his plan is exposed by Apollo in the trial.
  • Leave No Witnesses: Lauren's reason for killing Protagonist, according to Apollo.
  • Make the Dog Testify: Lauren is forced to testify by Apollo. Despite initially appearing to have no relation to the case, she's convicted of the murder by the end of the second case.
  • Only Sane Man: Vogel100, though even he admits all British people should be banned.
  • Saved by Canon: Lampshaded by Apollo during his confrontation with Wynaut.
Apollo: Literally the protagonist, I'm even alive in case 1 which is later in the timeline
I am in NO danger bro
  • Villainous Breakdown: Lampshaded by pichuis, right before his own breakdown.
pichuis: pls be kind my breakdown is really underwhelming now
  • Wham Line: At the beginning of case 2:
Apollo: I am Apollo Justice Ace Attorney Protagonist of Apollo Justice Ace Attorney
    pichuis: idk what that is
