Xak is a series of topdown adventure games by Micro Cabin with similar gameplay to four of the earliest Ys games. Legend has it that after a war between gods and demons, the gods split a world into thirds. The human world was called Xak, the demon world was called Xesis, and the fairy world was called Oceanity.

The games include:

  • Xak: The Art of Visual Stage
  • Xak II: Rising of the Redmoon
  • Xak: The Tower of Gazzel
  • Xak III: The Eternal Recurrence
  • Fray in Magical Adventure
  • The Tower of Cabin

  • Bloodier and Gorier: While Xak III retains much of the lighthearted character interactions and humor from the previous games, it's also not afraid to show the villains acting truly brutally, with lots of pixelated blood spilling from characters who get killed and at one point even showing the corpses of a king and decapitated princess being tossed around by soldiers like footballs.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Latok and Fray are depicted with blue hair are two of the heroes featured in the series.
  • Compilation Re-release: The first two games were compiled into Xak I & II when released for the PC-Engine
  • Damsel in Distress: Fray was retreating from wolves in a forest flooded with them.
  • Disappeared Dad: Latok took up the role of main protagonist following the disappearance of his father.
  • The Hero: Latok is the series protagonist who took up heroism when his father went missing.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Latok, series hero, wields a sword as his weapon of choice.
  • Light Is Good: Fray wore white clothes and happens to be a heroine.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Fray, at least in "Magical Adventure" wields a shield in addition to her staff.
  • Off with Her Head!: Princess Elmina gets decapitated after witnessing her father die in Xak III with their carcasses being punted like a football afterwards.
  • Red Is Heroic: Fray sometimes dressed in red and happens to be a heroine in the series.
  • Stripperiffic: One manga art shows Lou wearing a single-strap top that shows off her belly.
  • Video Game Remake: Fray In Magical Adventure had been remade into Fray CD.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Starting with her spinoff game and its remake, Fray starts making use of magic.
  • World of Technicolor Hair: There are a variety of characters who have hair that is not a normal human color. Latok and Fray have blue hair while Lou, Ryun, and Oan have green hair.
