Flee before morning, before its nighttime forever.

Til Morning's Light is a Survival Horror Action game by Wayforward Technologies and Amazon Game Studios, released in 2015 for mobile devices.

The game stars Erica Page, a normal teenage girl who is just trying to fit in. One evening, she is trapped inside of a haunted mansion with a centuries-long curse. While inside, Erica hears a disembodied voice asking her why she is in the house, but refuses to let her leave. Armed with a flashlight, Erica must now navigate the mansion, solve its mystery, and of course, find a way to escape. All before the break of dawn, or else she herself becomes a ghost forever!

The game is an action adventure game. You control Erica as she investigates the spooky mansion, collects tools, solves puzzles, and battles enemies and other creepy monsters. Battles with monsters play out RPG style in a rhythm fashion as the player must tap or swipe the prompts in a timely matter (Ala Elite Beat Agents or Sonic Chronicles), with a successful attack each time, but missing a prompt results in the player being attacked. The game has an appropriately creepy atmosphere with a soundtrack provided by acclaimed Wayforward composer Jake Kaufman.

"Til Morning's Light" contains examples of:

  • Badass Normal: Erica is an average everyday teen girl, wielding common weapons to beat down monsters.
  • Curse: Erica must escape the house by morning, or she becomes another one of the permanent residents.
  • Friendly Ghost: The previous victims of the mansion who are already trapped. They try to help Erica as best as they can to break the spell and escape.
  • Haunted House: The overall setting. Erica is trapped inside the mansion and must escape before dawn breaks, or she'll be trapped forever.
  • The Lost Lenore: Erica's friend Angie, who mysteriously disappeared in the mansion years ago.
  • Press X to Not Die: The battles play out in this fashion. The player has to tap or swipe the prompts that appear on the screen, with Erica successfully attacking the enemy each time. But if you miss, the enemy attacks and she takes damage instead.
  • Scare Dare: Erica is dared by two jerkass friends to enter the mansion, who then proceed to lock her inside.
  • Story Breadcrumbs: The loose journal entries that Erica finds in the mansion, which offer clues on the backstory of the game.
