16-Bit (sorta) Live Action Fleentstones.

A Flintstones platform game, loosely based on the 1994 Live-Action Movie by Ocean Software.

Players take control of Fred Flintstone in a linear platforming adventure as he rescues his family and friends from Cliff Vandercave, whom Fred pursues through several stages. Fred battles enemies with his club, but he has other weapons like rocks, as well as Bowling Ball to attack low grounded enemies.

The game provides examples of:

  • 1-Up: Floating Fred heads give you an extra life, unless you aren't at full health, in which the pickup will fully restore your health meter instead.
  • Amphibian Assault: Frogs are enemies in the Quarry levels, which hurt Fred by bumping into him.
  • Convection, Schmonvection: Zigzagged. In the Volcano levels, Fred can only be hurt (or rather killed) if he touches the lava itself. But there are some platforms that move up and down, and grow hot when they get closer to the lava. At which point, the platform hurts Fred if he's standing on it.
  • Green Hill Zone: The Quarry Site Levels are where Fred's adventure begins. The first level of the Machine Levels takes Fred back to this setting.
  • Expressive Health Bar: Fred's Mood is his health bar. It starts out with a normal expression, but Fred's expression gets more exaggerated and crazy as he takes damage. When he's down to his last hit, Fred's expression is doing a Wild Take with his hair standing on end.
  • Hit Points: Fred's health is measured on the bottom where his lives counter is, which grows more and more exaggerated and deranged as he takes damage. He loses a life when he gets hit while his expression is in its Wild Take level.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: All of the character sprites resemble their Live Action counterparts from the movie. You're basically John Goodman in a video game.
  • Jungle Japes: The Jungle Levels are the next set of levels in the game, where Fred has to fight gorillas and tar pit monsters.
  • Lethal Lava Land: The Volcanic Levels, where Fred has to overcome fiery rocks and meteors and surf on a lava wave.
  • Rise to the Challenge: The Final Volcano level (Volcanic 4) has Fred climbing up a series of chains and platforms to escape the deadly rising lava.
