Tetra Star: The Fighter is a 1991 Rail Shooter for the Famicom. The game is known for its Space Harrier style gameplay and its Public Domain Soundtrack.

The year is 2089. Earth has made contact with the Baal Empire and set up a warp gate between the two planets as a sign of peace. One day, however, the empire suddenly launches an attack on New York City, breaking the peace treaty. Now, as the pilot of the Tetra Star fighter, you must lead a squadron through the warp gate to defeat the empire. Along the way, you must also rescue Omega, your companion who had been taken hostage by the empire.

This game provides examples of:

  • Big Bad: Balgous, the rogue A.I. of the Baal Empire.
  • Bittersweet Ending: If Omega is killed, he will not be seen in the ending cutscene. You even report his death to your commanding officer in the ending.
