Tauronos is a 2D Top-Down View Survival Horror game with Roguelike elements, developed by 16 Bit Nights, conradproteus, and cavalie.ro. It was released on August 14th, 2017 for PC through Steam.

In the game, you play as an unnamed man who dove into the ancient maze, seeking to reach the center. It was said that those who get there will make a discovery about themselves, though you have no way to know if it's true until you get there. The legends also mention a Minotaur, who stalks the maze to this day: to your detriment, you soon discover this to be true! The overall journey consists of 42 short, yet trap-filled levels across 6 chapters, with the Minotaur never far behind, and with any death forcing you to restart immediately.

Tauronos contains examples of:

  • Blackout Basement: Everything not immediately lit by your torch is pitch black.
  • Bloodless Carnage: The player character never actually bleeds, no matter what happened to cause his death.
  • Flash of Pain: The Minotaur flashes red when hit by something.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: The player character finds a sword and eventually puts down the Minotaur for good with it.
  • Infinite Flashlight: The player's torch will never run out.
  • Mini-Game Credits: The credits appear to the side of yet another tunnel, but which is now trap-free, as the player character finally returns home from the labyrinth.
  • Nameless Narrative: The protagonist is never named, and neither is anyone else.
  • Our Minotaurs Are Different: The Minotaur, of course, who pursues you throughout the game.
  • Player Death Is Dramatic: When the player character falls down dead, a bright spotlight suddenly shines over their limp body.
  • Ragnarök Proofing: There are many traps in the labyrinth, and they all function perfectly fine, which is only possible if the Minotaur was smart enough to maintain them.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The Minotaur has red eyes.
  • Spike Balls of Doom: An early trap consists of one of these swinging horizontally across the corridor on a chain.
  • Spikes of Doom: Metal spikes suddenly popping out of the floor make their appearance from the very first levels.
  • Sprint Meter: Present, and managing it with the need to run from the Minotaur, yet also knowing when to slow down to avoid stumbling into traps is key to survival.
