Super Mario.exe, also known simply as Mario.exe, is a Sonic.exe fangame based on the iconic plumber Mario, that stars a more corrupted version of him, aptly named Mario.exe.

The following corruption contains these tropes:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Mario/Mario.exe. He is depicted less as the hero in the original games and more of a bloodthirsty demon-like entity that violently murders all of his former allies.
  • Death by Adaptation: Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi die after their encounter with Mario.exe, and surprisingly enough, even Bowser suffers this fate during the Game Over screen.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Both during the jumpscare ("AHORA SOY TU DIOS"; "I AM YOUR GOD") and Game Over sequence ("Juego creado por 2002abcdario"; Game created by 2002abcdario).
  • Ur-Example: Despite the reception the game had garnered over the years, the game itself is pretty important as it was one of, if not the first Mario.exe games ever made, with various works as well as fangames following shortly after.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Notably, Princess Peach herself is not seen during the main game as well as the Game Over sequence, implying that despite the death of everyone, she's still alive and well.
  • The Cameo: Out of all characters, Sonic appears as part of the Game Over sequence, looking none worse for wear despite hanging from a rope.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Definitely not a Sonic.exe fangame without it, with Mario.exe staring at the player at the title screen, as well as the "jumpscare" and Game Over sequence.
  • Vocal Dissonance: During each character's death, their screams sound more like a little child's than something from the official Mario series.
