It can see you sleeping without eyes.

Where am I? What is this place? What are these electrodes on my body? And what did they do to me? Now I remember a little... the masked men from the van! They brought me here! I must find a way out of this place.

Specimen Zero is a Survival Horror FPS game developed by Café Studio for the iOS and Android. You awake in an abandoned building, having absolutely no memory where are you and what on earth is happening. Last thing you remember is that you're being kidnapped, and suddenly you're in a basement, free of your bonds... and you hear monsters snarling outside. But luckily you managed to obtain a shotgun soon enough.

Will you be able to escape in time?

An online, multiplayer mode is available, where you and a bunch of friends all awaken in the same area as soon as the game starts.

Specimen Zero contains examples of:

  • Blackout Basement: The entire game is set inside a dark, gloomy, abandoned building, at dusk. Your vision will be severely limited all the way, and using the flashlight is the only way you can even see a damn thing, at least in rooms where you managed to hit a light switch.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Type-2 example for the stronger monster types, whose arms and legs have been replaced by organic blades.
  • Blob Monster: Of the Body Horror variety. You can encounter mutants literally made of lumps of flesh fused into a squatting, legless humanoid form, whose only means of moving is by hopping towards you.
  • Creepy Basement: The game have a few of these, including the first level, with plenty of monsters in the darkness ready to suddenly jump out and eviscarate you.
  • Crowbar Combatant: Subverted. You ncan collect a crowbar and use it on the monsters, but it's effects are minimal at best.
  • Eyeless Face: The monsters in this game (both varieties of them) doesn't have eyes, and relies on their sense of hearing to chase you down. Somehow it still works - you've got to run fast before they get you.
  • Jump Scare: When you suffer a One-Hit Kill from a monster ambushing you, expect to see the creature's face filling the screen screeching at top volume before it chomps you to pieces.
  • The Lost Woods: After escaping the abandoned building, the second area of the game requires you to navigate a creepy forest.
  • Nameless Narrative: You're not given one in-game, though you could give yourself a name in multiplayer mode.
  • Run or Die: Ammo is very, very scarcely provided in this game, and most of the time running like crazy from the monsters is your only hope or survival.
  • Tranquillizer Dart: One of the alternative weapons you can use in the game, and in some cases it's better than larger weapons like the shotgun - monsters game barely even slow down when hit by bullets, whilst darts when hitting a monster's cranium will knock it unconscious for 90 seconds.
  • Waking Up Elsewhere: Your last (vague) memory is that you're kidnapped... and then you're now stuck in the middle of a monster-infested building.
  • A Winner Is You: "You Have Escaped." (cue credits)
