Rollergames is a 1990 Action/ BeatEmUp game for the NES by Konami, based on the TV show Rollergames.

The "plot" of the game is that three rough teams (Bad Attitude, Maniacs, and Violators) have kidnapped the owner, and its up to the three "Good" teams to take them on and rescue him. The player chooses between the three good teams (The T-Birds, Hot Flash, and Rockers) to take on the bad guys, represented by a single skater.

Rollergames is an overhead adventure/platformer where you have to guide your skater through dangerous levels, jumping obstacles and battling enemies. You have a choice between three different skaters, but their differences are cosmetic and the attributes aren't different between them. The player can attack by punching or a jumping kick. What makes Rollergames unique among NES Action games is the control. You are on skates constantly, so the player has to take account for momentum, slopes and terrain on platforms.

Like most Konami NES titles, Rollergames boasts an exciting and catchy soundtrack and sound effects.

Rollergames contains examples of:

  • Acrofatic: The T-Birds Skater is a heavy set fellow but he can get around just as quickly as the others.
  • Bottomless Pits: Falling off the track or into sewer manholes costs you a life.
  • Collision Damage: Only during the skating segments. Colliding with enemy skaters makes your character fall and lose health.
  • Inescapable Ambush: Occasionally your skater will have to stop and get through a horde of enemies before they can move onward.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The Hot Flash Skater is the only girl skater among the three.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Your skater cannot swim. Falling into the drink functions the same as the bottomless pits, meaning you lose a life.
  • Trash Talk: The villains of each level will harange your skater, usually with an over-the-top threat.
