What do you get when Pac-Man gets hit with a heavy dose of his own fever? To put it simply, you get Retoman.
Retoman is a Game Mod for Pac-Man that messes everything up, from the cutscenes to the colors to the music, in order to match Common Knowledge and Fandom-Enraging Misconceptions about the original game. You can download the hack here
, though you do need a regular Pac-Man ROM to mount it on top of.
This game provides examples of:
- Adaptation Name Change: Downplayed. Inky is now Inkey, and Blinky swapped names with Clyde... again.
- Stylistic Suck: In the creator's own words: "retoman (my intentionally shitty pac-man rom hack) is real!!!"
- Inherited Illiteracy Title: "Reto" is a misspelling of "Retro", originally used to describe a hilariously bad GIF of Super Mario.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: Downplayed. Every color, save perhaps for black, has been altered ever-so-slightly.
- Hearts Are Health: Instead of small Pac-Man clones, the lives meter is made of hearts.
