Remember is an RPG Maker adventure exploration game. Though playing similar to Explorer Horror games, it lacks horror elements and puts more emphasis on telling an emotional story.

You play as Huyuaki, a boy who wanders to a strange abandoned mansion and finds himself trapped inside. Exploring the mansion, he comes across a Mysterious Waif, Miu, who lost her memory and is also trapped in the mansion. The two bond and must work together to recover Miu's memories, discover the history of the mansion, and find a way out.

This game contains examples of:

  • Advancing Boss of Doom: The wolf will chase Huyuaki occasionally, forcing him to run to a safe room.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The latter two endings.
    • In the second bad end, Huyuaki is able to stay with Miu's spirit forever instead of parting with her, but both are trapped in the mansion forever because Huyuaki hasn't recovered his memories.
    • In the true end, Huyuaki discovers the Awful Truth that his mother and Miu were killed in a truck accident, and so has to say goodbye to them and to the pet dog Muu, to let them pass on to the afterlife. Neither he nor Miu want to leave each other, and the last shot is of them crying into each other's arms, but they do decide it's for the best to part and Huyuaki can leave the mansion to move on and live his life now.
  • Dead All Along: Miu and the blonde woman were killed in a car crash before the story began, and Huyuaki is interacting with their spirits.
  • Look Both Ways: It turns out that an accident involving a truck is a significant incident in the backstory. Huyuaki, his mom, and Miu were all going back to the mansion after a night of stargazing, only for the latter two to get hit by a truck and die.
  • No Antagonist: The force keeping Huyuaki and Miu trapped inside the mansion isn't a character, but the darkness in Huyuaki's own heart that is repressing his trauma over his mother and Miu's tragic death. The only antagonists are momentary characters- the wolf only chases you three times, the doll is a brief obstacle in one room, and the character who ultimately caused the conflict is a nameless, unseen driver who only briefly shows up in the backstory.
  • Pocket Dimension: The mansion turns out to be one created by Miu and corrupted by Huyuaki's repressed trauma, which is why neither can escape unless Huyuaki remembers everything.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The driver of the car that killed Huyuaki's mother and Miu is never shown on-screen and only briefly makes an impact, but said character is the reason the entire game happened as the accident led to Huyuaki repressing his memories and creating the Pocket Dimension the game takes place in.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Huyuaki believes that Miu is the child of the blond woman and that she lived in the mansion beforehand with a strange blond boy who is unknown to him. As it turns out, Miu was more-or-less adopted until her real parents found her again- Huyuaki himself is the blond woman's son, the mansion was his original home, and his "parents" are Miu's parents who adopted him after his birth mother and Miu were killed in a car accident that he's repressed from his memories.
