RTX Red Rock is a third person shooter for the Playstation 2, devoted by Lucasarts in 2003.
In the year 2113, aliens known as LEDs (Light-Emitting Demons) have invaded Earth. The military was able to push them back, but now the LEDs have begun attacking Red Rock, a martian colony, for unknown reasons. The player, Major “EZ” Wheeler, is called in to stop the LEDs.
This game contains examples of:
- Ancient Artifact: The LEDS have come to Mars to find the Foundation Stone, an artifact of immense power, said to be one of the building blocks of the universe.
- Artificial Limbs: Wheeler lost his right arm in an earlier operation and now uses a robotic prosthesis.
- Electronic Eyes: Wheeler lost his left eye during combat and had it replaced with an artificial one that allows him to see in four different vision modes.
- Fun with Acronyms: The aliens are called LEDs (Light-Emitting Demons), RTX (Radical Tactical eXpert), and IRIS (Independent Removable Information System).
- Latex Space Suit: Averted. At several points Wheeler will don a space suit to walk on the surface of the planet, but the suit is only slightly less bulky than today’s suits.
- Precursors: The Old Souls are four ancient beings who guard the Foundation Stone.
- Virtual Sidekick: IRIS is a computer program that is meant to simulate a human female. She is so lifelike that she becomes jealous of Chief Colony Officer Cimmeria, who Wheeler frequently interacts with.
