Puck OFF is a Genre Mashup between a regular hockey game and a Fighting Game published in 2022 by Kuura Playhouse. Game has two winning conditions:
  • Score more goals than the opponent...
  • ... or kick them senseless.

Surprisingly, the game also has a story mode:

You are Hello, [Insert Name Here] and have just moved to Puckville, because you have heard of legends that the World's Best Warrior, Living Legend Dominator was last seen playing there. Your dream is to meet him and maybe even play a game of hockey with your idol. A random set of events launches you to an adventure, where you get on the bus and go on a World Tour with a random barkeep and an Action Girl you just met at Puckville.

Your coach is a Grumpy Old Man who rarely has anything positive to say about your game. World tour takes you around the world with each country having its own Boss Battle. Through these characters the mystery of solving who is Beneath the Mask is getting closer.

Your character gets Skill Scores and Perks along the way and you can decide what kind of player you want to play with:

  • Ace: is a Weak, but Skilled playmaker who is great at passing, and makes flashy tricks.
  • Goon: is The Big Guy who wants to end games by knocking other players out.
  • Sniper: is the superstar, sarcastically The Ace rather than Ace itself. Scores goals.
  • Work Horse: is The Captain. Focuses on physicality. Fast and hard to kill.

Contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: Sarah.
  • Beneath the Mask: Story's biggest mystery is the identity of Dominator, the world's best hockey player.
  • Big Bad: Even though first seen as a hero, Dominator is the ultimate Big Bad.
  • Bittersweet Ending: On the other hand, Dominator is defeated and he doesn't torture other players ever again, but it did cost the life of Coach.
  • Blood Sport: This sport definitely categorizes as this even if there is no blood shown on the gameplay. (possibly because of age rating)
  • Boss Battle: Every country has its own boss with own special kills. You unlock them as playables once defeated.
  • Character Customization: You can customize your character in multiple ways.
  • Chosen One: There's a lot of chosen ones depending where you look at. Player is the chosen one as he's the one that brought end to Dominator's era. You could also say Eagle is the chosen one as Coach chose him to be the next Dominator. The current Dominator was the chosen son.
  • Fun with Acronyms: There's a whole other story when you read the descriptions in the Skill Tree.
  • Good Is Not Soft: You can say a lot about Coach, but you can't say he's soft.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Coach.
  • Heel–Face Turn: You could say Bloodbath did this when he joined Hero's team in the end.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Coach.
  • The Hero's Idol: Dominator. As the story progresses, Coach becomes one. Irony is that they are the same person.
  • Living Legend: Dominator is this.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Dominator and Anthony.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Coach and Dominator.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Dominator's powers are not explained well enough except for excessive training. As powerful as he is, there could be some magic involved?
  • Mentor Occupational Hazard: Coach. But what makes it interesting is that killer isn't Big Bad Dominator, but his son, the future Dominator.
  • Mysterious Past: Mainly Eagle. He has a lot of secrets and he like to keep them by himself.
  • Running Gag: Many.
    • Everybody's forgetting the Eddie.
Sarah: We just beat your butts! Two of us against three of you!
Eddie: Umm... I think you might be forgetti-...
Coach: Sarah's right! Good players earn their luck!
    • Sarah's hockey references.
    • Stalker Bloodbath.
    • Coach bashing on Player.
    Coach: Speed!
    Coach: Grit!
    Coach: Skills!
    Coach: Smarts!
Coach: These are the attributes you're lacking.
  • Shout-Out: Game holds many direct and indirect shout-outs to hockey teams, players and stories from other medias.
  • U.S. Marshal: USA's boss Coyote.
  • "World's Best" Character: Dominator is the textbook example of this.
  • World's Best Warrior: Guess who?
