Police 911 2 is an arcade Light Gun Game developed and published by Konami. It's the first game in the Police 911 series. It was released worldwide in arcades in 2001. It has never been ported to any console. It was known to be sold as a kit (to replace parts of the Police 911/Keisatsukan arcade) or as a full arcade machine.
Taking place a year after the events of Police 911 1, the National Police Agency launches an operation to arrest all known members of the Gokudo-kai after they received intelligence of them making plans to work with the Hong Kong-based triad gang known as the Ryuuto (Dragonhead in English). The NPA mobilizes all prefectural police forces in Osaka, Hakata, Shinjuku, Kobe, Nagoya and Sapporo to make the arrests and seize evidence in order to dismantle the gangs for good. They later learn that someone is working behind the scenes to ensure the NPA fails to make the arrests.
The game provides examples of:
- Action Prologue: Regardless of which city you choose to start in, the game begins when your player (character) goes with a bunch of anti-riot officers armed with their revolvers to raid a Gokudo-kai-owned office due to a secret deal going down with the Ryuuto.
- Always Close: In the second game, if you reach the true final stage by shooting three targets marked with orange rings, once you beat the first final boss, Hung Ko Cheung, Shigenobu Matsuyama will attempt to flee. Regardless of whether you shoot him or not, your colleagues will eventually arrest him.
- Boom, Headshot!: A tactic players can use to take down the bosses if they use a vehicle against you in order to take them out.
- Cultural Translation: The game replaces the 'fro-haired Japanese detective and the Japanese policewoman into American plainclothes officers dressed differently compared to the policeman and SAT operator.
- Dub-Induced Plot Hole: The English version mentions (in the narrator voiceover) that the FBI is assisting the NPA to take down the Gokudo-kai and the Ryuuto.note The original Japanese script makes no such reference and that the NPA was the sole law enforcement agency responsible for launching the Senkoku Tsuiseki.
- Gondor Calls for Aid: The NPA called on all prefectural police forces in Osaka, Hakata, Shinjuku, Kobe, Nagoya and Sapporo to immediately make arrests minutes after the Action Prologue started.
- Market-Based Title: It's known in Japanese as The Keisatsukan 2: Senkoku Tsuiseki Special.
- Meaningful Name: Senkoku Tsuiseki means Nationwide Arrest Plan, referring to the operation the NPA launched to take down the Gokudo-dai and the Ryuuto.
- Secret Character: The game included four secret characters, consisting of two American plainclothes officersnote , a Metal Hero Expy and a Japanese policewoman whose clothes appear to be lifted from a porn set.
- SWAT Team: The Special Assault Team is mobilized in the cities named for the nationwide raids to take place. Players can choose a SAT operator as the main character involved.
- Take Cover!: Like the first game, the player needs to take cover to hide from being shot/killed and reload.
- Vehicular Assault: This is what distinguishes most of the bosses in Police 911 2, since every foe, like you, is a One-Hit-Point Wonder. Your sidearm (or SMG for the SAT operator) isn't powerful enough to destroy the vehicles, so you take out the drivers by firing through the windows.
