A portal and potential influences.

Planar Pioneers is a Construction and Management/Idle Game hybrid by The Paper Pilot made in Profectus and released in 2023. At first, you use a mine machine to automatically gather sixteen resources with varying drop rates that increase energy once you have enough. Soon, you gain access to various tools that boost production and can explore various planes that function like procedurally-generated mini-idlers while providing their own rewards and even relics that function like new tools.

The game is playable on galaxy.click, itch.io, and The Paper Pilot's official website.

This game provides examples of:

  • Amplifier Artifact: The Tool Empowerer doubles the effects of an item it's attached to.
  • Cap: Rebuyable levels can't be increased more than 100 times.
  • Export Save: You can press a button in the saves manager to export the 1KB+ savefile (it grows in size dozens of times by the endgame) and paste it into an entry field.
  • Factor Breakdown: There's a button that shows a window with multipliers to energy gain, ore gain, portal costs, bonus connections, and drop rates.
  • Power Glows: Empowered tools have a purple glow.
  • Random Drop Booster: The dowsing rod doubles the odds of finding resources it's assigned to.
  • Randomly Generated Levels: Each plane is generated based on portal tier and attached influences, but names, colors, and balancing are random.
  • Unobtainium: The two rarest resources are Unobtainium and Ultimatum.
  • Whatevermancy: One of the potential upgrade suffixes is "-mancy", so you can have names like "Snicrymancy".
