A 2D platformer about a seafaring woman named Pepper who is robbed of her treasure and kicked off a bridge, and then comes across a drill, named Grinder. This forms the crux of the gameplay, as the drill is used to dig into sand and dirt, which is then used to gain momentum to break out into high jumps.
You also use the drill for many other things, including inserting it into screws to rotate them and affect lifts and other such things.
Not to be confused with Drill Dozer, which is also about a girl and her drill, though there are a few gameplay similarities.
This game provides examples of:
- Action Girl: Pepper is moving around at high speeds and fighting monsters and bosses.
- Video Game Dashing: Pressing jump while drilling gives you a burst of speed. Vital for making many of the game's jumps that require you to break out of the dirt and jump at high speed, and for dodging attacks from bosses.
- Wake-Up Call Boss: While the first world has a decent amount of challenge, the first boss will likely kill many players when they first encounter it. This is not a super easy game!
- When All You Have Is a Hammer…: The drill is used for everything from transportation to combat to opening and activating things.
