Beginning of the Opening Narration

Observo is a Survival Horror Video Game by SpaceZeta Games. It's intended as a love letter to the survival horror video games of the early 2000s.

You play as Edgar, a man who was in town on business for the day, and who lost his reservation at the local hotel when his meeting ran too long. Needing a new place to spend the night, he's directed to another inn, which looks more run-down than the previous one, but is able to set him up for the night.

As soon as he's settled in, loud thumping noises start coming from the room next to his. He goes to complain about it, but the manager says no one's in that room. Then the power goes out. The manager goes to check out the fuse box, but is absent for far longer than Edgar reasons he ought to be. When he goes looking for him, thus begins the longest and scariest night of Edgar's life.

The game was released on October 21st, 2022.

Observo contains examples of:

  • Apocalyptic Log: Strewn throughout the hotel in the form of notes from employees.
  • Body Horror: The monsters in the game all look like two bodies fused together, like the frozen corpse at the start of The Thing (1982).
  • Life Meter: Located in the pause menu, it's an EKG meter like the Resident Evil games pre Resident Evil 4.
  • Lock and Key Puzzle: There are a number of locked doors around the hotel, and Edgar will need to find the right keys to unlock them.
  • Ominous Fog: A fog covers the hotel after the power goes out.
  • One-Word Title: Observo, of course.
  • Pipe Pain: The first weapon Edgar can use against monsters is a pipe. It'll take a few swings to put them down.
  • Retraux: The game has Generation 5 graphics, and fixed camera angles like the games from that era.
  • Save Point: Desks, like the one in Room 9 (Edgar's Room) or the lost and found.
  • Ten-Second Flashlight: Edgar finds one by the fuse box. It only stays on so long as Edgar keeps pressing the button on it.
