No Strings Attached is a short indie first-person game developed by Zed_Technician.
In a dimly lit hotel somewhere on Zara Lane, the proprietor, Maggie, is rudely awakened from her sleep by a strange commotion. Upon waking to find nothing, she discovers a package containing a single clue. Now, she has to solve the puzzle if she wants to find out who the mastermind is.
No Strings Attached contains these examples:
- Big Bad: The stranger is the main antagonist of the game, although he's far from being a villain or a threat.
- Big Beautiful Woman: Maggie, continuing this trend.
- Camera Perspective Switch: Per the usual, the game applies First-Person Perspective in game, only showing different perspectives at the beginning of the game, when the intruder is about to attack before cutting to black and at the end of the game.
- Cane Fu: There's no need to worry about Maggie. Getting a game over merely results in her striking her would-be attacker with her cane, causing them to be sent to the hospital to recover.
- Disappointed by the Motive: When the stranger explained that his game was his attempt to get revenge on a guy called Jimmy for cutting down one of the sacred trees to use for Christmas decorating, Maggie was not impressed in the slightest.
- Extra Eyes: Maggie is an interesting case, as she has three eyes rather than two.
- Mugging the Monster: The intruder picked the wrong building to break into that night, in every sense of the phrase. This can be seen in the Non-Standard Game Over sequences, which both end with Maggie sending them to the hospital, unconscious.
- Revenge Is Not Justice: Downplayed. Maggie points out to the stranger that his attempts to take matters into his own hands was not only wrong, but he could get someone hurt in his aim for revenge, including himself.
- Spotting the Thread: Each of the rooms in the hotel are similar, but all have a unique property about them, and each clue Maggie gets can only match one room...
- Timed Mission: Maggie has to find all the clues tied to each package before the clock reaches midnight.
- Twisted Christmas: The game takes place in a hotel during Christmas.
