Welcome to My Place.
In this game you the Player will create this place and explore the environment you have created.
This wonderful adventure game features wonderful graphics and design all created through imagination.

Now before we begin.
You must first create a universe.

My Place is a first-person indie meta horror exploration game. It has the main gimmick of actually accessing your computer and doing things like crashing itself or opening your browser and linking you to a webpage.

It starts with a narrator explaining that the game allows the player to create whatever world they want, with the help of a strange rose. The voice first creates a lush, beautiful forest with the chirping of birds to show off the capabilities.

But the game soon becomes corrupted. As it turns out, the rose is cursed, and Dark, the creator, has lost himself to the corruption. The player wakes up inside a house and finds themselves trapped. Dark has decided to play a game with you- in order to escape, you must navigate the various parts of the house, finding keys to unlock doors, and find the key to freedom.

Can be downloaded here. The game is free, but a paid version also exists with extra content, including a secret ending. It was followed up with A Dark Place.

This game contains examples of:

  • Big Bad: Dark is the creator of the game who became corrupted by the rose and now traps the player inside, making them play a game to escape. However, it turns out that the Red Mask, aka Nightmare, is the true source of the corruption.
  • Game Within a Game: The Dark Heart room has a beta version of My Place that must be played to unlock some doors. It is a heavily-pixellated version of the game taking place in a forest.
  • Haunted House: The game primarily takes place in one after the prologue. It has several rooms which lead to the various chapters of the game, and are haunted by various entities.
  • Multiple Endings: Three of them, depending on what you do after getting the key to the Forever Tunnel.
    • If you take Dark's deal and press the escape button, he mocks you for calling for his trick, then resets the game back to the point just before the choice.
    • If you do not take Dark's deal, he sends the rose after you, then fights you himself; once defeated, he dies.
    • Best End: After getting the normal end, going to the nearby computer and giving the correct password. You are transported to a temple-like structure in the sky and meet Light, the Good Counterpart of Dark, who fuses the remains of the broken rose with the sunflower, creating the Golden Rose. But using it drives Light insane- after a battle against him, Nightmare shows up and reveals that he was the true mastermind who manipulated you so you could kill both Dark and Light. He absorbs then and is fought in a final battle, then promises to return.
    • Secret End: Only available in the paid version. Instead of going to the Forever Tunnel, head to the bell in the first hallway and interact with it. You will be transported to a new area, a rainbow-colored series of rooms, leading to the Red Mask/Nightmare. He expresses surprise that you went against his plans, then decides to kill you instead. After a final battle, he is killed, and Dark and Light both survive. With the corruption completely gone, a happy end is achieved.
  • No Fourth Wall: The game and the characters speak directly to the player, and glitches are plot points. Humorously, one of the puzzles requires you to find a literal fourth wall- a wall marked with a number 4 inside of a walled forest with four walls- that disappears once you go near it.
  • True Final Boss: Two of them. In the Best End, after having defeated the normal final boss Dark, the player must face Light, his Good Counterpart who was Driven to Madness, and subsequently Nightmare in a Sequential Boss. In the Secret End, which is an alternate route from the normal and Best ends altogether, Nightmare fights the player in his Red Mask form, utilizing the attacks of every boss in the game.
  • Unwitting Pawn: The player is being used by Nightmare to overthrow Dark and Light; by killing them, the player allows Nightmare to possess their bodies and gain their powers, becoming a powerful being.
