Animation? We don't need no stinkin' animation!
Moonbreaker is a video game, collaborated by Unknown Worlds developer of the science fiction survival game Subnautica, and science fiction author Brandon Sanderson. It can be described as a digital tabletop wargame, inspired from classic games such as Warhammer. Players control stationary, unanimated miniatures representing characters that can attack and perform special abilities. Capturing the tabletop wargaming feeling even further, players can customize their characters by painting them with custom color schemes via a robust painting system.

Upon release, the game received criticism for lootboxes and monetization, especially requiring purchasing "tickets" to play the single player mode "Cargo Run," but in order to Win Back the Crowd, both monetization methods were removed.

The story takes place in a solar system called The Reaches, where various alien races compete for control of a scarce resource called Cinder. This universe is fleshed out by roster lore, and in-game audio dramas.

  • The Alleged Car: Rickety Backfire pilots a small aircraft in such terrible condition that upon attacking, it occasionally damages itself and sends parts flying into secondary targets for additional damage.
  • Freudian Trio: Zax as the Ego, Shrapnel as the Superego, and Crankbait as the Id.
  • Friendly Sniper: Aria is a comically timid sniper. Her lore description includes self-help guidance on how to make friends.
  • Soul Jar: Zak Ja'kar is a deceased outlaw trapped in a robot as a hologram.
