Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is an upcoming 3D fantasy platformer video game developed by Studio Chibig inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli (most notably Kiki's Delivery Service) and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

The game follows a young witch named Mika who travels to the island of Mount Gaun to train under the great witch Olagari. Her plans undergo an unexpected change, however, when she takes up a package delivery job in order to save up for a more powerful broomstick to reach her goal. The central gameplay of the game will see players using Mika’s broomstick to fly across the skies to deliver packages to the islanders, as they explore more and more of the island.

The Kickstarter page can be found here. The game has surpassed its funding goal and all of its stretch goals (having raised 1.3 million Euros out of a requested 40,000) and is projected to release on PC and consoles in October 2023.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain includes the following examples:

  • Cel Shading: The gameplay footage shows that the game and world will have a visual style similar to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, complete with cel shading.
  • Courier: As the gameplay shows off, Mika will be using her flying skills to carry packages back and forth between the island residents.
  • Flying Broomstick: As the gameplay footage shows off, central to the gameplay will be Mika’s ability to fly around the environment on her broomstick.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: Olagari's first test for her new pupil is to push Mika off the mountain to see if she can make it back up unassisted. The core of the game is Mika getting better brooms and training up her flying skills so she can do so.
