Mario in Animatronic Horror is a Five Nights at Freddy's and Super Mario Bros. crossover fan-game created in RPG Maker VX Ace by GalacticStar Studios, led by Hazah Master.
Loosely inspired by both (Mario) The Music Box and Super FNaF, Mario gets strange visions about seeing the faces of dead children, leading him to investigate the unsolved mysteries of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
The game released in fall 2017, with plans for a sequel, Mario in Animatronic Horror ARC, to be released in 2018. Those plans were soon scrapped, and a different sequel, entitled Mario in Animatronic Horror: The Nightmare Begins, took its place. Now taking place in a dream world, Mario has to fend off the nightmares, but he has someone helping him this time around.
Only the first two chapters of The Nightmare Begins was released before GalacticStar Studios was sent a cease-and-desist from Team Ari, creators of MTMB, alleging that GalacticStar was ripping off their work. In response, both games were deleted from Gamejolt, with Hazah himself having no interest in uploading them back to the site.
Mario in Animatronic Horror provides examples of:
- Adaptational Backstory Change: In canon, William Afton builds Circus Baby, while in this game, it's both William and Henry who build her.
- Age Lift: The spirits possessing the main four are in their teens, while in canon, they could not have been any older than twelve years old.
- Ambiguous Gender: The Marionette has an androgynous voice, and is not presented as male or female in this universe.
- Composite Character: In this game, both the soul possessing Foxy and the Big Brother Bully from the fourth game are one and the same.
- Decomposite Character: In canon, Michael Afton is heavily implied to be the Big Brother Bully from the fourth game. Here, they're entirely separate people.
- Dies Differently in Adaptation: In canon, Cassette Man dies in the fire that burned down the fake Freddy's location. Here, he programs Circus Baby to kill him.
- Gender-Blender Name: Kyel Afton is a male character, but his first name is actually a feminine name of Scottish origin.
- Generation Xerox: Lorenzo is essentially a carbon copy of his nephew Mario, minus the moustache.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Alex has blonde hair, and she is the kindest of the souls, often making pastries for others when she was still alive.
- Karma Houdini: William never faces any repercussions for his actions, with his eldest son Michael being wrongly blamed for the Missing Children Incident.
- Miscarriage of Justice: Michael is arrested for the murders of the missing children, and he is blamed for the murders while the real culprit, his father William, goes free.
- Named by the Adaptation: As the game was released when the names of the Missing Children were unknown, each of them are given a name. The soul possessing Freddy is Tommy, the soul possessing Bonnie is Buck, the soul possessing Chica is Alex, and the soul possessing Foxy is Kyel. In addition, Elizabeth Afton's name was not revealed, so she is nicknamed "Lisa" instead.
- No Name Given: Unlike the other missing children, the child possessing the Marionette is unknown.
