Lunna Astray in Stardew Valley is a fan-made Game Mod by Rafseazz (who's also the creator of Ridgeside Village) first published in 2019 that acts as an unofficial mini-expansion for Stardew Valley.

The mod focuses on a new character named Lunna, a mysterious young woman who suddenly appears one day near the lake at Cindersap Forest with no recollection of how she arrived in Stardew Valley. She claims to be from a place called "Umuwi" and immediately falls under the protection of the Wizard Rasmodius. The Farmer can learn more about her story by befriending her and potentially romancing her.

Unlike other custom character mods which just integrate a new NPC to the game, this mod also adds 3 new potential love interests (including Lunna), new crops, fish, forageables, locations, events, and story to the base game. It can be downloaded here.

Lunna Astray in Stardew Valley provides examples of:

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Unlike Krobus and the shadow brutes seen in the base game, which all have the same colour, the shadow people of Umuwi are shown to have a lot of diversity in skin colours (Lunna's shadowfolk form itself is purple-skinned). Krobus mentions that Lunna is from a different tribe of shadow people.
  • Art Evolution: The characters and other assets' appearances changed a lot with a later release version of this mod as seen here.
  • Canon Welding: Elements of this mod would later be referenced in Rafseazz's later expansion mod, Ridgeside Village, showing that this mod is canonical to it. Salvador also mentions Jio from Ridgeside Village in one of Raphael's heart events.
  • Cute Monster Girl:
    • Dianna, Lunna's little sister, she is an adorable little shadow folk girl.
    • Lunna herself is also quite cute in her shadow person form.
  • Disappointed in You: In one Raphael's heart events, his father, Salvador, tells him that he's disappointed in him because he fell short on his duties of protecting Umuwi.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: If Lunna marries and has children with a male Farmer, she will remark on how their kids are half-shadow people.
  • Hidden Elf Village: Umuwi is a village hidden from the rest of the world that's protected by a magical barrier, and it's also populated by peaceful shadow people.
  • Humanity Ensues: It's revealed that Lunna is a shadow person who was transformed into human due to ancient magic at the pond of Umuwi which also opened up a portal to Stardew Valley. Later her sister, Dianna, also learns to become human with the same magic.
  • Interspecies Romance: The Farmer can romance Lunna, who's in reality a shadow person, which is why at first she is apprehensive on starting a sentimental relationship with them.
  • Glamour Failure: Invoked Trope by the Wizard Rasmodius, in Lunna's 8 heart event he temporarily lifts the spell Lunna is under, showing her partially transformed into a shadow person.
  • Mysterious Waif: The mod's story is focused on Lunna and unraveling the mystery of her true identity.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Lunna, since she is mentioned to be attractive by other characters, and she has milky-white skin and black hair.
