Little Nightmares III is the third installment following Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares II, now developed by Supermassive Games while still being published by Bandai Namco. It will release for PC, PS, Xbox, and Switch in 2024.
In Little Nightmares III, you follow the journey of Low and Alone as they search for a path that could lead them out of the Nowhere. Trapped within the Spiral, a cluster of disturbing places, the two friends will have to work together to survive in a dangerous world full of delusions and escape the grasp of an even greater threat lurking in the shadows. For the first time in the franchise, face your childhood fears together with a friend using online co-op, or solo with an AI companion.
Little Nightmares III continues to terrorize players with the following tropes:
- Call-Back: in the pre-alpha footage when the Monster Baby uses her petrifying gaze attack for the first time she looks into a building through an eye shaped window and starts looking back and forth while Low and Alone hide behind obstacles, making her look like a classic security eye from the first game.
- Co-Op Multiplayer: A first for the franchise.
- Crapsack World: The world of the game, showcased in the trailer, is a massive desert filled with broken buildings and machinery, like an apocalypse has happened sometime in the past.
- Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Inverted; Low uses his bow and arrows to shoot obstacles and enemies while Alone uses her wrench to bash them.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Whether or not Six is still around is unknown. If she is around, where does this fit for her? Between II and I? After I?
