Lightning-Riding Swordsman is a fan-made web game for Genshin Impact and developed for the HoYoFair Teyvat Film Festival in 2024. In it, you control the Traveler, who has to explore the map (mostly based on the game's region of Inazuma) and defeat the enemies there. The gameplay is a homage to Hollow Knight, meaning a 2D map where learning the enemies' attack patterns to know when to strike while avoid ing getting hit is key.

The game can be played here. Players who finished the game before the festival's end were given a unique profile picture in HoYoLab.


This game gives examples of:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Lyney, who in the original game didn't show up until Fontaine, can be found in the map, even though the Traveler's still in Inazuma.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: If the Traveler is defeated by the Kairagi Beef Gate, they will respawn right next to its location. This ensures an inexperienced player can get back to the fight in seconds without having to go through enemies and other obstacles again.
  • Degraded Boss: The Kairagi that served as a Beef Gate for the wider map can be found on the edge of the island and in Lyney's circus.
  • Elite Mooks: Fatui Skirmishers have notable abilities that make dealing with them trickier than with normal mooks.
  • The Goomba: Slimes only have a single attack and get down in a few hits. They are still dangerous if they surround you or are found in a platform, due to them attacking while you're landing.
  • Save Point: Kitsune statues (which in the original game could be found around Narukami Island and served as help during the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual) can be used as save points to replenish the player's health.
  • Suspiciously Cracked Wall: Several walls and floors have cracks to indicate they can be broken.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: While the Kairagi at the end of the caves is rather simple for Hollow Knight standards with its heavily telegraphed attacks, those attacks are hard to dodge due to hitting you from far away and it has too much health to go down quickly. This teaches players without experience to predict the enemies' attacks and to prioritize the safety of a retreat over landing a risky hit. Those skills will serve them very well in the rest of the game.
