Charlotte Truman: But I swear you're going down if I SURVI~~~~~~~~~VE!

Kinetica is a racing game for the PlayStation 2. It takes place in a high-cyberpunk world and has a novel vehicle system consisting of body armor with wheels at the ankles and palms. Players do stunts e.g. dance moves for boost, and there are random power-ups scattered across the tracks, which weave across the sides of skyscrapers, through ancient ruins, and up into a space station.

This video game provides examples of:

  • Difficult, but Awesome: Greck, one of the hidden characters. He boasts the highest top speed in the game, and his acceleration, mass, and grip are top-notch. However, his handling is not that fantastic. With mastery of skid boosting, this becomes a non-issue and races become cakewalks.
  • Fragile Speedster: Xia has the lowest mass and the smallest hitbox, but is very speedy at the same time.
  • Gravity Screw: Wheelers go up the sides of skyscrapers, across billboards, up from underneath elevators, and through long cylindrical tunnels; the camera rotates at quick, right angles around curves and bends, and sometimes a blind curve launches the wheeler into the air upside-down.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Crank, one of the hidden characters. Excellent stats across the board, handles well and is very fast, and is a VERY large character. His downside is that he's prone to sticking to walls like Zinon.
    • Greck on the other hand...
  • Man in the Machine: Crank. His character description even reads "This powerful suit is definitely more machine than man, if there's anything left of the man at all."
  • Ruins for Ruins' Sake: Lost City II. Why are there huge tubes that extend from ancient ruins into an underwater zone and back out again into the ruins? Because.
  • Rule of Cool: This game has a lot of this stuff. For a game from 2001, that means something...
  • Space Station: Orbital Junction. Kinetic Racing must be pretty big in-universe, given that the space station is designed specifically for Kinetic Racers.
  • Stripperific: The suits for the female racers are very revealing.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Suicide Slide has explosions, everywhere!
  • Ultimate Life Form: Greck is the best character in the game. Almost everything Crank does, Greck does better. He's faster, has the best grip, is hardly ever pushed around, and his poor handling can be taken advantage of. Crank, turn your chair!
