Iron Man 3: The Official Game is an Endless Running Game published by Gameloft, meant to tie-in with the 2013 film starring the eponymous Marvel superhero. The game takes place after the events of the film, but is not considered canon with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following the defeat of Aldrich Killian, the remnants of A.I.M. launch a series of attacks on Stark Industries in an effort to steal the vast resources available to Tony Stark. To prevent his technology from falling into enemy hands, Tony dons the Iron Man armour once again and travels across the globe attempting to foil A.I.M.'s terrorist activities... as well as a few demons from his past.

The player controls Tony using touch screen controls as he flies through various stages, dodging obstacles and shooting down enemies before he takes too much damage. Each stage offers randomly generated missions which the player can use to earn Stark Credits, which can be used to purchase and upgrade new suits for Tony. Completing enough missions will advance the story, and allow the player to fight off against one of A.I.M.'s generals in a boss battle. The game also allows for in-app purchases to speed along the development of new armours or to skip missions entirely.

In 2015, Gameloft dropped support for the game and is no longer available for purchase.

This game contains examples of:

  • Bastard Bastard: Ezekiel is the illegitimate son of Obadiah Stane after he had an affair with one of his mistresses. To keep their relationship a secret, Obadiah paid off Ezekiel's mother and played no part in his son's life. This caused him to grow up with an immense entitlement complex, and led to Ezekiel joining forces with A.I.M. so he could ruin Tony's reputation and take over Stark Industries for himself.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: One of the game's updates added a level taking place in Stark Satellites orbiting the Earth. While most of the enemies are either cyborgs or are wearing suits, the Extremis soldiers are capable of flying in the vacuum of space while wearing civilian clothing.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: The Living Laser was just a nobody who wanted power, and was turned into a cybernetic being by A.I.M. to help accomplish their goals. While initially pleased with his new powers, he eventually regretted how he was no longer human and continued to work for A.I.M. in the hopes they would turn him back to normal.
  • Big Bad: M.O.D.O.K. has become the leader of A.I.M. after Killian's death and the one organizing the attacks on Stark Industries throughout the game. It's later revealed that M.O.D.O.K. is actually Killian, having uploaded his consciousness prior to his death, and his entire plan is to ruin Tony's reputation by framing Stark Industries for his terrorist activities.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: The player can purchase in-game currency as a way to speed along the waiting periods for armour repairs, purchase new suits, skip missions, or to revive Tony after he's knocked out during a mission.
  • Composite Character: M.O.D.O.K. is actually Aldrich Killian, who managed to upload a copy of his consciousness into a new cybernetic body so he could continue to lead A.I.M. after his death.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the many A.I.M. forces sent against Tony appear to be modified Hammer Drones from Iron Man 2, specifically the army model.
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: With the exception of the Crimson Dynamo, all the villains in the game upgraded themselves to become cybernetic beings and "evolve" beyond their peers. The Living Laser realized how much of a mistake this was when Tony pointed out how much he had lost by giving up his humanity, and only wished to be given a regular human body again. On the other hand, both Ezekiel and M.O.D.O.K. view themselves as superior to humanity thanks to their upgrades and gladly use their powers to terrorize Tony.
  • Damsel in Distress: Pepper is kidnapped by Ezekiel during Tony's fight against the Living Laser and he holds her captive so she can surrender all of Tony's bank account information to him. It isn't long before he tries to torture her to death just so he can spite Tony.
  • EMP: During missions, one of the obstacles Tony can run into are EMP mines. These mines appear in clusters of enemies and if they're shot at, they explode and damage Tony's suit.
  • Endless Running Game: Stages are randomly-generated and only end once Tony takes enough damage during a mission.
  • Mythology Gag: In the Manhattan level, billboards can be seen displaying the logo for Oscorp Industries from The Amazing Spider-Man Series. This ended up becoming a bit ironic, since Spider-Man: No Way Home would confirm that the two series take place in different universes and Oscorp itself doesn't even exist in the MCU.
  • Renegade Russian: The Crimson Dynamo was a former Russian soldier who resented how his country eventually became corrupted by the capitalist ideals of the West. After stealing a prototype armoured suit from the government, the Crimson Dynamo joined forces with A.I.M. in the hopes of using their resources to help take over Russia and restore its former glory.
  • You Monster!: Tony calls Ezekiel a "sick monster" after he reveals that he plans to torture Pepper to death by hooking her up to an electric chair.
