"Welcome to Inna de Poona, where the melons are juicy and the fish is plentiful!"note
"According to legends passed down from ages long past...an era of darkness and destruction draw near.
Deep within the endless sea of stars stirs an ancient evil forgotten by time...the Nymphojinn. Spirits of limitless lechery lying dormant in the cosmos, awoken only once every ten thousand years by a cosmic super-period of unspeakable PMS...with symptoms so severe and desire so destructive, entire galaxies have been consumed by the chaos.
It is said that only a hero of unparalleled prowess can overcome the insatiable lust of the demonic pair, and return them peacefully to a satisfied slumber. As the dreaded day looms upon an unsuspecting world, no such savior has risen to stand against the threat...
...Waaait... actually... I might know SOMEBODY...''
Kyu, narrating the opening cutscene. Yes, this is actually the plot.

HuniePop 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the Puzzle RPG Dating Sim made by Ryan Koons, HuniePop. You are the same person who has banged all the girls from the first game, and the game starts with you... satisfying a hot fashion model named Ashley. Soon after, Kyu reintroduces herself to you and summarizes the events of the first game (which wasn't much), and tells you about some "space hookers" you got to deal with. You're basically the perfect person to deal with them...except for one thing. You don't have any experience with threesomes. So Kyu decides to take you to Inna De Poona and get freaky with some gals in order to learn how to master threesomes to save the world... or something like that.

The game is mostly the same as the first game, gameplay-wise, but with several game mechanics changed and added to give the game an identity distinct from its predecessor. The most apparent addition is the double dates, where instead of dating one girl at a time, you're now dating two at the same time, and with it brings some new perks. A new stamina system has been implemented, where making matches on a date will deplete part of a girl's stamina while giving a little stamina to the other girl you're dating. Having it completely depleted will make her exhausted which will force you to focus on the other girl, and having both girls exhausted (or displeased through Broken Heart matches) means that you've failed the date. Other new features include a revamped hunie system, where items are bought with fruit you get from completing dates, and the improved calendar system, which behaves differently from how it does in the first game.

It was first confirmed to be in development in October 2016, before getting small updates on it before a gameplay trailer appeared in early 2020, which revealed the game's final title, then finally getting released on February 8, 2021.

The game provides examples of:

  • Actionized Sequel: Stealth Pun aside, you go from taking five dates to nail one girl to nailing two at once after only two dates. The plot also went from trying to get laid in the first game, to saving the galaxy in the second (not that the game takes itself anywhere near seriously).
  • Advertised Extra: Downplayed with Kyu. She's featured prominently in advertising and is front and center in the title screen, but in the game proper, she only appears in cutscenes near the beginning and end of the game, along with staying in the hotel room and handling its various functions for you.
  • All Women Are Lustful: Compared to the first game, even the more prudish girls are a lot more willing to have sex with you and the girl they're with after a couple of dates, and there are plenty of girls in the game who are quite clearly flirting with you and other girls.
  • All Women Love Shoes: The player can give shoes to the girls in order to raise their stats. Of course, they have to be of their specific style for them to accept them. Jessie and Brooke in particular stand out for their shoe obsession; Jessie says she loves shoe shopping the most and Brooke casually says she has a huge shoe closet.
  • Anyone Remember Pogs?: One of Ashley's baggage, "Easily Bored", has a picture of a fidget spinner as its icon. Fidget spinners died out in popularity around 2017, although it's tongue-in-cheek enough that it avoids making the game look outdated.
  • Apocalypse How: The stakes for this outing have been raised considerably higher than just "hopeless virgin learning how to score chicks". The beings known as the Nymphojin apparently rise from slumber every ten thousand years, and if someone doesn't step up to satisfy them enough to get them back to sleep, they destroy entire galaxies in their frenzy. Kyu recruits the player character from the first game to stop this from happening since they're the best option for the job.
  • Bag of Spilling: Given a justification, the device you used in the first game is outdated, well-used, and incompatible with double dates. So Kyu hooks you up with a new one and you forgot to bring anything with you on your trip.
  • Bland-Name Product:
    • Ashley and Polly are TeleYoubers and are meeting each other on Inna De Poona for a collab video.
    • Two of Lillian's questions and answers are about how many QuickiePic followers you have, while another reveals her favorite place to shop is, of course, Alt Subject.
  • Call-Back: A couple of the new girls are related to the cast of the first game, as was the case in HunieCam Studio.
    • Nora Delrio is a cousin of Kyanna Delrio, and is listed as a "Caring Aunt" in her description. Nora's motivated to do some of her crimes to help provide for her nephew Philip. If brought to the Strip Club, she'll also mention she used to have a webcam gig but it didn't suit her, directly referencing her role in HunieCam Studio.
    • Brooke Belrose is Audrey's aunt by marriage. Brooke confesses she's on the island resort partly to get away from her family for a while.
    • Upon first seeing her, Kyu insults Zoey by comparing her to an alien, clearly referencing Celeste from the original HuniePop. A later conversation with Zoey mentions the "green-haired queen of the Butterfly People", which is referring to Venus.
    • In the first meeting with Jessie and Lailani, one of the options has the protagonist mentioning dating her once as well as her daughter, Tiffany, before retracting the latter to dog. Similarly, the first meeting with Sarah and Lailani has one option of boasting of having sex with a Japanese girl, referencing Aiko.
    • Every girls has at least one costume and hairstyle that resemble characters from previous installments. In a list: Brooke has Love Goddess (Venus), Ashley has Lazy Teacher (Aiko), Nora has Cousinly Love (Kyanna), Lillian has Mega Bitch (Audrey), Jessie has Tiffany (Tiffany), Cloud Nine, Sinful Devil, and Sweet Angel (Marlene), Lailani has Closet Freak (Beli), Zoey has Gamer Girl (Nikki) and Luvendass (Celeste), and Lola has Poppin' Off (Renee).
    • Momo appears as the Chibi Figurine unique gift in the game.
    • Celeste appears as the Boob Mousepad unique gift in the game.
    • One of Nora's questions is if you ever commited any crime in your life, with one of the possible answers being "depends of your definition of bestiality". In the first game Kyu jokingly acusses you of commiting bestiality when you bring her Momo's panties at the end.
  • Canon Immigrant: Over half of the romanceable charactersnote  in this game made their debut in HunieCam Studio, a confirmed non-canon spin-off game released between the first and second games in the main series.
  • Cast Full of Gay: While some are canonically bisexual, if you play as a girl, the game becomes this. Candance and Abia will change their favorite trait from a huge dick to big boobs.
  • Closest Thing We Got: Kyu returns to the player character not because she thinks they're the best option to deal with the Nymphojinn, but because they're more-or-less the only choice. Kyu says that "the higher-ups are concerned about your lack of experience with threesomes", necessitating the Excuse Plot of the game.
  • Connected All Along: The sequel ties its plot together with the original and HunieCam Studio by establishing familial relationships between some of the characters:
    • Nora is revealed to be Kyanna's cousin.
    • Brooke is Audrey's aunt-by-marriage.
    • Lillian is cousin-by-marriage to new character Ashley.
  • Continuity Nod: Several, to the point where many references may be obscure without knowledge of the original. Although Celeste herself doesn't return, Kyu has fond memories of the sexy alien babes of Tendricide, for example.
  • Darker and Edgier: In the cynical sense. While the Excuse Plot threatening apocalypse is a far cry from just stepping up your romance game or making money off camgirls, the real cynicism comes from the girls themselves and the baggage system, making gameplay mechanics of such things as medical and mental disorders. Your methods of dealing with such issues are things like douches and tampons as date gifts. You don't really fix these problems, because that's not your goal; getting into and finishing threesomes is.
  • Dark Reprise: During the final boss battle against The Nymphojinn multiple sections of music from the first game make an appearance, but this time, it's significantly less relaxing, and a lot more horrifying and frantic. Luckily, a Triumphant Reprise of the main theme is there to back you up when you reach the bonus round. Who knew porn game music could hit so hard?
  • Demoted to Extra: Kyu was a hidden romance option in the first game. At the start of the sequel she tells you that she's not allowed to date her clients any more... and, surprisingly, actually sticks to this (aside from providing you with a bit of inspiration during the game's optional tutorial and having a final one-on-one encounter with you for old time's sake at the very end). You'll still see her at the beginning and end of the game, whenever you meet a new girl, and any time you return to your hotel room; but she still features much less than the dateable characters.
  • Dual Boss: The Nymphojinn, Moxie and Jewn. Downplayed in that all encounters in the game involve the same mechanic of switching your attention between two characters — in fact, it's kind of the whole gimmick. They do, however, have the typical Palette Swap appearance of a Dual Boss.
  • Everyone Is Bi: If you're playing as a guy, every girl you date are clearly attracted to both you and the other girls in the game, which is convenient since you're trying to get experienced in threesomes.
  • Excuse Plot: There's two horny space hookers that are about to awaken and destroy the galaxy. Quickly; you need to get laid in a bunch of threesomes to stop them!
  • Final Boss: Unlike the first game, which nominally had Venus as the last character you could date — but was actually pretty loose with completion order, and her dates didn't have any special function to them — the Nymphojinn are a well-defined final boss in-story, and with more complex and difficult requirements to complete their encounter successfully. (You can, however, keep on playing in Alpha Mode once you defeat them.)
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Surprisingly quite a bit considering its premise.
    • The protagonist is the same one from the first game who got with all of the girls, including the hidden ones. So if anyone's good enough to handle two girls at once, let alone two galaxy-destroying beings, it's them.
    • Lola and Kyu are the tutorial date. The reason it's so much easier than the others is because Lola hasn't got any in a while and Kyu is just watching, but also invisible so Lola doesn't have any qualms about the second girl. Kyu also explains that love fairies don't count, which is why this doesn't get you a pair of wings and why she doesn't help you expedite the process by helping seduce women.
    • The gameplay in general is somewhat harder than the first. The protagonist hasn't had any experience in double dates so they haven't fully gotten into the groove of handling two women at the same time.
    • The resort's official motto says that this is the place to pick up chicks. So unsurprisingly, all the girls are cool with threesomes because this is the place to be for them.
    • You only stand a chance at pleasing the Nymphojinn because you are the best Kyu has ever trained and got with an alien and the Goddess of Love herself, and even then you need a lot of experience with all the women on the island. The Nymphojinn's double date is several times longer and harder than any other before it, mirroring the sheer difficulty of wooing the Nymphojinn in-universe.
    • The player is required to bed all the girls in the island not only to get the ways of the threesome, but also because with every threesome you get fairy wings needed to wake up the Nymphojinns before their scheduled period in order to date them.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Much of Lailani's characterisation comes from her sexual inexperience and nervous embarrassment when confronted with sexual topics. In practice, however, she's no harder to succeed with than any of the other girls.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Part of the game's premise, since the objective now is to get as many threesomes as possible and the CGs focus on the two girls together.
  • The Help Helping Themselves: The player first meets Nora, a maid at the resort where you're staying, when she gets caught trying to steal some jewelry and you have to intervene to prevent her from getting fired.
  • Hotter and Sexier: The game's developers have said that you get to the sex quicker, and they were not exaggerating, with the tutorial ending with you having sex. It also only takes two successful dates for the player to get to this part with a pair of girls, as compared to taking three dates with one girl in the first game. Sex scenes also have a lot more variety: they no longer only take place at night, and you can hook up in locations other than your bedroom (like public pools and other outdoor locations). And that's not getting into the whole threesome aspect! It tells you something when the CGs in the first HuniePop were initially harmless and got progressivelly naughtier as you progressed with a certain girl until the final sex CG, while in HuniePop 2 all the CGs are sex CGs.
  • Joke Item: You start the game with a suitcase full of panties that doesn’t serve any use except to take up space in your inventory.
  • Last-Second Word Swap: When you, Lailani, and Jessie are discussing your past relationship with the latter from the first game, you have the option to say: "I also used to date her daug... er... dog."
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • If you take Polly to the Aquarium, she will make a remark that she feels the sudden urge to go ice skating. This lampshades the fact that the Aquarium's music track is a remix of the Ice Skating Rink's track from the first game. In the same vein, if Lola is taken to the Rooftop Lounge, she'll say, "Why do I feel like I've heard this music before?" since it's pretty much the same theme from the first game, only slightly remixed.
    • One of the suggestions you can offer Lillian for how to pass the time during her vacation is to lie in bed and watch pay-per-view porn all day. If selected, she quizzically asks you who in their right mind would pay for porn(presumably due to her being a Phoneaholic Teenager and the existence of the internet). Huniepop 2 is a paid eroge which costs twenty-five dollars on Steam.
  • Luck-Based Mission:
    • The final boss against the Nymphojinn requires winning 4 dates in a row. Take all of the luck based elements inherent to the Match-3 Puzzle genre (not getting the matches you need, broken heart chain reactions, baggage, etc.) and completing the date becomes a slot machine.
    • Like the original, obtaining a specific date gift is this as well. You can buy specific gifts, but with 70 different gifts available, it's tough finding the specific gift you want.
  • Nerf:
    • Sentiment tokens take a while before becoming very important to the player as the number of date gifts each girl can have is dependent on how much baggage they've revealed to you, which takes a while to uncover. Compare that to the first game where you had six slots from the get-go.
    • Even after a girl has uncovered all of their baggage to you, the first game's most powerful date gift, the Pearl Necklace, isn't present here, being replaced with a date gift that can only fill up to 20% of the Affection Bar, making Sentiment a lot less powerful.
    • 4+ matches, which make up the basis for one strategy that could reliably clear Alpha Mode dates in the previous game, now are counterbalanced by draining more Stamina from the active girl. Too many in quick succession can send you into a downward spiral of exhaustion that ends the date prematurely.
    • Broken Heart tokens have been nerfed in a way that benefits the player. Instead of taking away from the Affection Bar, it simply makes a girl upset. While having both girls be out of stamina means a failed date, a smart player would be able to make a powerful match, even if it means a broken heart match will be made, so long as the other girl has enough stamina. This isn't even taking into account Lillian's and Zoey's respective baggage that switches the effects of Broken Heart tokens with Passion tokens and Sentiment tokens respectively; or Nora's, which makes her completely unaffected by Broken Heart matches.
  • Not Completely Useless: The Violet Pansy date gift consumes all Broken Heart tokens on the grid for 2 Sentiment. Normally, the only time you'd consider using this is with a girl who has only 1 Stamina left so you can get the Broken Heart tokens off the field before you focus on her date, but it's a niche usage that takes up a spot for another date gift. However, Lillian, Nora, and Zoey all have Baggages that allow them to negate the downside of the Violet Pansy. Lillian's "The Darkness" and Zoey's "Aquaphobic" baggage switch the effects of Broken Heart and Passionnote /Sentimentnote  tokens. With those Baggages active, Violet Pansy allows you to clear the board of Broken Hearts for her date while giving a boost to either Passion or Sentiment. Nora's "Emotionally Guarded" baggage makes it twice as likely that Broken Hearts fall, but makes her immune to their effects. With that baggage active, using Violet Pansy makes it a cheaper Cow Plush, which removes all Broken Hearts, but costs 4 Sentiment.
  • Porn with Plot: Well, an Excuse Plot, but it's developed enough that it qualifies for this trope. The game opens with the prophecy that's quoted above regarding the Nymphojinn destroying the galaxy, and you have a goal in having all this sex that's more than just "bang all the girls to stop being a lonely virgin".
  • Sequel Escalation: To ludicrous degrees. The first game was just about some lonely dork becoming a Sex God who beds the God of Love herself. This one is about learning the sacred art of the threesome to stop two space hookers from waking up and destroying the galaxy when they go on their periods. Note that the game doesn’t take itself even slightly seriously.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Jessie is revealed to be suffering from depression. Not so surprising when you consider that she can no longer work in the porn industry after decades of being highly sought-after talent, and her beloved daughter Tiffany hasn't spoken to her in over two years by this point, basically disowning Jessie by blocking her in all social media. She also has emphysema thanks to over twenty years of hard smoking.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Some girls are personality-wise quite similar to girls from the first game. For instance: Lailani = Beli; Zoey = Celeste; Lilian = Audrey; Sarah = Momo.
  • Three-Way Sex: It's the main schtick of the game. Sure, you have a high body count for ladies you've bedded, but only with one partner at a time. This leads to Kyu training you in the ways of three-way.
  • Touché: When flying to Inna de Poona, Kyu says that she can't believe that humanity needs machines to fly, and they'd be pretty useless if they didn't generate so much Hunie. The player character can counter that humans also produce a lot of really high-quality porn, to which Kyu will concede the point.
  • Visual Innuendo: The icon for the Girl Pairings menu is a scissor... like in scissoring, the girl-on-girl sex position.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: While only Kyu, Jessie, and Lola from the first game actually appear in the sequel, there are references to almost every character from the original game at some point. The only exceptions to never get a Call-Back from the protagonist are Nikki and Beli.
    • Marlena, Nadia, and Renee from HunieCam Studio are also notably absent, especially since the majority of characters introduced in that game were brought into the mainline series with this sequel.
