Half Life: Zombie Edition is a mod for Half-Life, where you play as a Headcrab Zombie.

Half Life: Zombie Edition provide examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Downplayed. While the Ceiling Turrets are still just as weak as before, they appear a lot more than in the original Half Life, and they no longer target Black Mesa staff like they did in the original.
  • Air-Vent Passageway: There are many points where you have to enter the vents, like most Half Life mods. However, some vents are too small for you to enter with a host, so you have to abandon your host sometimes to continue.
  • Anti-Villain: The Black Mesa Science team is just trying to survive the Resonance Cascade, which includes trying to kill the Headcrab.
  • Armies Are Evil: The HECU are still trying to kill the Black Mesa staff like in the original game.
  • Boom, Headshot!: You are VERY weak to these, as they can kill you even if you're a Headcrab Zombie.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Headshots can kill you instantly, even as a Headcrab Zombie. Because technically, you're the Headcrab ON the zombie.
  • Lightning Bruiser: The Rusher mutation path for the Headcrab is this.
  • Mighty Glacier: The Breeder and Crasher mutation paths count as this.
  • Perspective Flip: In this mod, you play as a Headcrab.
  • Previous Player-Character Cameo: Gordon Freeman can briefly be seen outside the window of the room with the first scientist you encounter.
  • Removing the Head or Destroying the Brain: Downplayed. While headshots CAN kill you, even as a Headcrab Zombie, it's only because the Headcrab is on the head of the zombie. The zombie itself can be killed normally, although the headcrab would survive in that case.
  • Sentry Gun: The Black Mesa Ceiling Turrets, which are surprisingly common in this mod, unlike the original game.
  • Villain Protagonist: The Headcrab, obviously.
  • Weak Turret Gun: Downplayed. The Ceiling Turrets can be destroyed in one or two hits, however, running underneath an activated Ceiling Turret can kill the player in seconds.
