Go To

Gundam Wing: Endless Duel is a Fighting Game developed by Natsume and published by Bandai for the Super Famicom in 1996, being based on Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. It was quite a technical achievement for the time, as it includes vertical scrolling (something that wouldn't be a standard for fighting games on home consoles for a few more years). Each player takes on the role of one of the various Gundams (or Tallgeese, or Mercurius, or Vayeate, or Epyon through a button code).

Although Endless Duel never left Japan, the same engine was used for another mecha-based SNES fighter, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition.

Gundam Wing Endless Duel contains the following tropes:

  • Attack Drone: Planet defensors can be used offensively in a variety of ways, mostly as either chained together as a sort of lightning whip, or used to shoot out electricity. But there is an attack where they fly at the enemy on their own and electrocute them.
  • The Cameo: Relena Darlian is seen during the intro sequence of the game while Treize Khushrenada makes a brief appearance after the staff credits.
  • Cap: Trial Mode will never end no matter how many fights you win... although the win counter stops at 99.
  • Cheat Code: Pressing LLLLRRRRLRLRLRLR while highlighting Tallgeese in vs. mode or trial mode allows you to play as Epyon.
  • Post-Defeat Explosion Chain: Defeated fighters collapse while repeatedly exploding.
