Friday Night Funkin': Hellbeats is a Friday Night Funkin' mod created by RevenantDude. In this mod, Boyfriend moves into Hell to be closer to Girlfriend, but this gets him into trouble with her father, Daddy Dearest, and soon enough Boyfriend must face the literal forces of Hell just so he can spend some quality time with his beau.

This mod is a mix of both remixes of the base game's songs and original songs created for the mod. It also currently goes up to Week 3, with the rest of the weeks still being in development.

Song List:

  • Week 1 (Daddy Dearest):
  1. Bopeebo
  2. Fresh
  3. Dad-Battle

  • Week 2 (Skid and Pump):
  1. Spookeez
  2. South
  3. Strung-Up

  • Week 3 (Pico):
  1. Tainted
  2. Redemption
  3. Blammed

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Dye-Job:
    • Boyfriend has tan hair that fades into dark grey at the ends.
    • Girlfriend and her parents now have red as their natural skin color instead of purple. Girlfriend and Daddy Dearest now also sport blue hair instead of their original auburn and purplish-grey respectively.
    • Skid's skeleton costume is more brownish instead of white, while Pump's pumpkin head is now a more rotten yellow-orange.
    • Monster's head is now dark red instead of yellow, and his neck is brown-red. His eyes are now blank white and glowing instead of being pink with black pupils and red blood-stains.
    • Pico now has red hair and pale skin.
  • Adaptational Species Change:
    • Boyfriend is now an angel instead of a human.
    • Girlfriend, her parents and Monster were the only demons in the original Friday Night Funkin'. Here, everyone except for Boyfriend is a demon, although Pico is implied to be an angel disguised as a demon.
  • Barred from the Afterlife: Skid and Pump are not allowed into Heaven because of their past interactions with demons. They're understandably upset about this.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: RevenantDude actually had a try at making a "Hellbeats" mod in the early FnF days. The charting was horrendously spammy, the designs were little more than Palette Swaps, and the remixes were a bit underwhelming. Rev ended up taking those words to heart, with the current mod having decent-to-good charting, all the characters having decently different design compared to the original game, and the remixes being considered by many to be real bangers.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When Boyfriend and Girlfriend learn of what happened to Skid and Pump and how they were forced back to Hell by the angels in Heaven, they both wince at the circumstances.
  • Extra Eyes: Pico sports multiple eyes on his face, all of which blink. His dialogue implies that he's in disguise, so it's likely that he normally has 2 eyes.
  • Fantastic Racism: To say that the denizens of Hell abhor angels would be putting it lightly. For this reason, Daddy Dearest forbids his daughter from dating Boyfriend, for fear of his family's reputation being put in jeapordy.
  • Idiosyncratic Difficulty Levels: Simple (Easy), Durable (Normal) and Resistant (Hard).
  • I Hate Past Me: Now that they're in Hell as a result of their dabbling in the supernatural, Skid and Pump are embarrassed of their actions when they were alive, calling it "dumb".
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Skid and Pump in Spooky Month always referred to Halloween as Spooky Month, after their time in Hell they both stopped doing it and called their actions during it "dumb".
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: In their home series, Skid and Pump dabbled in the supernatural and interacted with multiple demons without a care in the world. This has ultimately come back to bite them in the butt hard, as a demon has ultimately dragged them to Hell, and now they're demons with no hope of getting into Heaven.
