Forge Quest is a Voxel-Based Dungeon Crawling Action Role-Playing Video Game by Open Realms.

In the land of Schmoop, there were villains who would try to take over the world, and there would be heroes who would stop them. Over time, the economy soon grew to revolve around this cycle, creating many jobs and boosting magic and armour and weapons industries. Eventually, though, good won the war against evil, bringing an age of peace to the world.

Unfortunately, this ended up destroying the land's economy. There were no houses in need of rebuilding, no prisoners to torture, no dead bodies to bury, and no one to sell potions or weapons to. It got so bad that wizards started using their fire spells on random innocent villagers out of boredom. And within a century, the chicken population exploded.

Thankfully, one thousand years ago (1,037 and a half if you want to get technical), the leaders of the world got together and signed into effect the Heroes Education and Regulation Ordinance (H.E.R.O.), which made sure to regulate the heroes and villains of the world so that neither side overpowered the other and caused yet another economic collapse.

You are one of these heroes. Having completed your education, you're eager to set out and live the exciting life of adventurer.

The game was funded on Kickstarter on January 13th, 2012. It was released on Steam on May 22nd, 2015.

Forge Quest contains examples of:

  • Bee Afraid: One of the first enemies you face in the game is bees as big as the Player Character.
  • Bow and Sword in Accord: You have both a sword, and a bow and arrow in your inventory.

  • Dem Bones: In the lava-filled cave at the beginning of the game, you fight skeleton warriors that wield swords and shields.
  • Lizard Folk: The Kobold are a race of reptilian people. They can serve as enemies in the game, though the Player Character can choose to be one in Character Customization.
  • Rewarding Vandalism: You can break giant pots for hearts in the lave dungeon at the start of the game.
  • Rock Monster: The first boss in the game is a giant humanoid creature made out of round rocks.
