Fausseté Amour is a 1993 video game for the PC Engine CD.

The year is 1162 of the fictional "Lilijian" calendar. An evil cult known as the "Holy Cask" has taken over the kingdom of Belia. They are led by a mysterious figure known only as "Goat Bone". The cult practices devil worship and has summoned dangerous monsters and destroyed entire villages who don't submit to them. The only one who can stand up to the cult is female warrior Corque Lans, the daughter of deceased swordsman Karl Lans and whose sister Mariya was kidnapped by the cult. She encounters a mysterious old man who tells her that he once knew her father, and provides her with special armor. Can Corque defeat Goat Bone, the Holy Cask and its top members, and rescue her sister?

Fausseté Amour provides examples of:

  • Action Girl: Corque herself, the game's heroine: she arms herself with a two-bladed lance and faces hordes of monstrous creatures.
  • Back from the Dead: In the ending cutscene, the old man revives Corque's sister after uttering some magical words.
  • Big Bad: Goat Bone, the leader of the cult who amasses a demon army to take revenge on humans.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: This is what happens to Mariya during her kidnapping. She is then forced to fight Corque and Corque has no choice but to kill her.
  • Clothing Damage: Corque's armor can break after taking damage. Similar to Ghosts 'n Goblins, when she gets hit a second time, she loses a life.
  • Damsel in Distress: Corque's sister is kidnapped by the evil cult and held in the dungeons in the introductory cutscene.
  • Defeat by Modesty: Corque, whenever she loses a life. The final Game Over screen also depicts her lying naked and looking embarrassed.
  • Double Weapon: Corque's main weapon is a long lance with a blade on each end.
  • The Dragon: Goatbone has four female generals, and every one of them are on equal standing.
  • Dual Boss: Goatbone's female minions are later fought in their human forms as a quadruple boss in Stage 5.
  • Final Boss: The last boss is a tall goat-demon thing with visible breasts.
  • Freudian Excuse: When Goat Bone is finally confronted, he attempts to justify his actions to Corque by revealing that his mother was a witch who was executed for her beliefs. While Corque pities him, she states this doesn't justify his actions.
  • Gratuitous French: The title, which roughly means "False Love".note
  • I'm Melting!: The first boss, a Minotaur/demon thing, dissolves and turns back into a humanoid woman.
  • One-Winged Angel: Every female boss at the end of the first four stages enters the screen in their normal human forms, then transforms into a large beast to fight Corque.
    • The first boss turns into a demon-minotaur creature.
  • Wedding Finale: Mariya, Corque's sister, marries her love interest in church in the ending cutscene.
