Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is an upcoming fighting game by SNK, and the first entry in the Fatal Fury series since Garou: Mark of the Wolves in 1999, being the 9th overall installment in the series and 7th canonically. It also the first entry of the series not released for the Neo Geo. It is the long-awaited continuation of the story arc which began in Mark of the Wolves.

The game is slated for a 2025 release. It's also the first SNK fighting game since The King of Fighters XII to be dubbed in English.note

Tropes (OKAY!!!)

  • 2½D: Much like SNK's recent fighting games this game will use 3D character models and worlds but limit the gameplay to a two-dimensional plane.
  • Breaking Old Trends: This is the first major SNK fighter with an English voice-over in over a decade. And ever since the jump to 2.5D fighters with The King of Fighters XIV, the localizations of their games have all stuck with the original Japanese recording, until now.
  • The Bus Came Back: Relative to Mark of the Wolves, which was really focused on kickstarting a new generation back then, where just Terry was the singular representative of his era; City of the Wolves brings several of the classic Fatal Fury characters back in a way where the roster has sizable examples of the old generation clashing with the new one, some being as close as masters and disciples, as well as relatives.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: While not seen, several fighters are teased in the first gameplay teaser, with their vocal clips playing as the various locations of South Town are displayed.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: The game's first announcement shows Rock front and center in clear light, but to his sides are Billy and Kain who are both framed in shadow.
  • Market-Based Title: For the first time it appears as though the game's logo will carry both the "Fatal Fury" and "Garou Densetsu" name in all regions (the Japanese title is written below the English title in the official logo, with the announcer in the Japanese version of the voice cast trailer using the "Garou Densetsu" name). This differs from Samurai Shodown (2019), which retained the Samurai Spirits name in Japan.
  • Painted CGI: The game uses 3D models like SNK's newest games at the time, such as The King of Fighters XV and Samurai Shodown 2019. As displayed in its first gameplay teaser, everything has a filter applied giving the impression of an inked illustration, similar to Shinkiro's signature style.
  • Retcanon: Terry's new Hidden Gear, Cosmic Strike Geyser, was confirmed by producer Yasuyuki Oda to be an adaptation of his Hado Senpukyaku move from the 90s anime movies.
