El Hijo - A Wild West Tale is a Stealth Strategy Puzzle Game by Honig Studios and Quantumfrog.

The story tells the tale of the titular El Hijo, the son of a widowed female farmer simply trying to make a living. One day, while she and El Hijo are out, their home is attacked by bandits. Deciding life has become too dangerous for him, his mother gives El Hijo to a monestary in the hopes he'll be raised in a safe environment.

El Hijo, however, feels that the monastic life just isn't for him. So, one day, he decides to sneak out under the cover of the shadows and go off to find his mother.

The game was published on December 3rd, 2020.


El Hijo - A Wild West Tale contains examples of:

  • Brats with Slingshots: El Hijo has a slingshot that he can use to bust open locks and launch distractions at enemies.
  • El Spanish "-o": El Hijo, though it is a real spanish word (It means "The Son").
  • Freelook Button: Pressing this will cause El Hijo to release a bird which will fly around, allowing the player to pan the camera around the level to see all the obstacles.
  • Isometric Projection: The game is viewed from above, with all the locations viewed so two walls are visible.
  • Kid Hero: El Hijo is a 6-year-old boy looking for his mom.
  • No Peripheral Vision: The enemies have a cone of vision that El Hijo needs to stay out of to avoid detection.
  • Throwing the Distraction: In the second monestary level, El Hijo can find a bunch of rocks he can throw to distract enemies, allowing him to reach certain areas he couldn't otherwise.
