Hololive: CouncilRyS RPG is a hololive Fan Game developed by Kebbie, focusing on HoloCouncil and IRyS in an RPG setting.

The story focuses on CouncilRyS joining together for a council meeting at Fauna's cottage, which in turn leads to them trying to find answers to the dreaded EN Curse. This search leads to them opening a doorway to a cave with a group of Magic Mirrors, which soon after spawns a group of villainous clones based on them, who in turn throw the whole world into disarray upon taking their place.

The game can be downloaded here.

Tropes:

  • Arc Number: Six. There are a total of six mirrors featured that brought Evil Doppelgangers of CouncilRyS, six pedestals in the haunted mansion, and of course, there's six members of CouncilRyS, including Sana.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The beginning of New Game Plus starts the same, with Kronii apologizing to everyone in the black void... but before she could start/continue the time loop, Sana suddenly shows up and runs into Kronii at the side.
    Kronii: GWAK!
  • Behind the Black: After recruiting IRyS, the camera panning down to show NunRyS entering the casino causes a pair of Baerats appear off-screen to ambush the group upon the camera refocusing on them.
  • Betting Minigame: There's the slot machine in the Casino of BaccaRat city, which rewards more money inputted by getting a row of fruits in the slots. It's key to obtaining the Bae doppelganger's show tickets by hitting the jackpot, which is impossible to do until you have Kronii rig the system.
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • An example sampled from the official source; the key hanging from Bae's choker. In canon, this key doesn't seem to belong to any specific lockpiece. But here, while discussing the ominous locked door in the forest, Mumei gets the idea that Bae's key might be what unlocks said door, which is later proven true, kicking off the events of the plot.
    • The mirror room at the beginning hosts up to six mirrors, with one remaining after the other five gets destroyed upon the clones spawning in. Later, Kronii gets the idea of weaponizing the last mirror against her clone to avoid being petrified, with it being required to use to avoid Cursed Kronii's Charged Attack. While Sana might've gotten trapped in the void dimension because of the EN Curse, she found her way back courtesy of that same mirror portal-ing her back.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: A hooded figure appears after CouncilRyS gets Taken for Granite by Cursed Kronii, with said hooded figure also appearing in the background of Fauna, Mumei, and Bae's camping session. The figure is revealed to be Sana, who assists the group after they get sent into a spacial dimension courtesy of Kronii's clone.
  • Cerebus Retcon: The "EN Curse", typically a phenomena to describe any technical issues the holomems (typically EN) experience, is instead a phenomena that traps them in an empty mirror dimension devoid of color, light or inhabitants. Before the journey started, the curse seems to have split off into Cursed Clones due to the Magic Mirrors. While everyone seemed free of this ailment after the clone incident, Sana is the only one not cured, with it getting bad enough to trap Sana in the alternate dimension after Cursed Kronii's defeat.
  • Evil Doppelgänger: The antagonists of the story are evil versions of CouncilRyS appearing out of a Magic Mirror, each appearing as the group's different outfits.
  • Flunky Boss: Each of the Cursed Clone Boss Fights features fighting them and their respective mooks to varying degrees. Cursed Kronii in particular calls forth the prior clones as her assists.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • After the intro text, the game starts with Kronii in the black void with the sound of a ticking clock playing, with her noting that things were going wrong. After beating Kronii's doppelganger, we learn what she means: she caused a time loop in the hopes of saving Sana from her EN Curse affliction.
    • Discussing Time Travel with Kronii upon her joining the party has her note that she only resorts to the time loop method in extreme circumstances, with her bringing up that Sana knows of this knowledge better than her. At the end, it's revealed that Kronii did invoke a time loop in the hopes of saving Sana.
    • The game repeatedly hints at Sana being featured in the game, as well as the EN Curse afflicting her.
      • The group of mirrors within the cave totals six, with each hosting a villainous clone of the respective group member facing it. Only one mirror remains after the clones come to be; the only doppelganger missing is of Sana. Furthermore, Fauna notes that the EN Curse afflicting the group was halted after the mirror incident. Guess who didn't get that privilege, due to not having her own clone?
      • The hooded figure that finds the stoned statues of CouncilRyS briefly glitches out in a manner just like what the group suffers through, courtesy of the EN Curse. Said curse made all the more relevant at the very end.
      • The haunted mansion features six pedestals, one of which is destroyed, with each meant to display a plush of each member of the group, barring Sana's.
      • Upon the start of Chapter 2, a conversation from elsewhere, implied to be Cursed Kronii and a minion, notes that after counting five, there's a sixth missing in their search.
      • As Fauna, Mumei and Bae have their conversation at the campsite, the same hooded figure from the beginning is seen off to the right spectating them. Furthermore, one of the conversation pieces involves pondering about how Sana's doing.
  • Final Boss: Cursed Kronii, who's also flanked by the prior CouncilRyS clones.
  • Furry Reminder:
    • Bae's introduction notes how Fauna's cat Snail chasing after her, a rat girl, isn't the first instance of a feline attacking her.
Mumei: She must be the local wildlife you were concerned about, huh?
      Bae: Excuse me?
    • When Fauna awakens in the middle of the night during a camping session, Mumei and Bae are wide awake, with them waving it off as them being a literal Night Owl and nocturnal rat respectively.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: IRyS opens with a "Fudgin' wolves" upon facing against the wild pack of animals for the first time, with similar instances of "Fudge" later in the game.
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: The events of the game were preceded by Kronii invoking this trope to cause who knows how many time loops in the hopes of saving Sana from the EN Curse. It's only by the end of the game does Sana herself stop Kronii from trying to repeatedly save her to no avail.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: IRyS's attempt at a Pre-Mortem One-Liner against a pack of wolves leaves Kronii and Bae unimpressed.
IRyS: Say your prayers, wolves. It's time to dierys!
    Kronii: ...
    Bae: IRyS...
IRyS: What, c'mon! You don't like it?
  • Level-Up Fill-Up: Each member that gains a level will have their HP and MP fully restored.
  • Mirror Reflects Everything: The remaining Magic Mirror gets repurposed for this trope in the battle with Cursed Kronii, preventing them from petrifying CouncilRyS with her gaze while also afflicting them in return.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The group of Cursed Clones (besides Bae) are each wearing clothes based on the CouncilRyS's other models, with a reference or two tied to them as well:
      • The clones of Mumei, IRyS, and Kronii are in their Smol form's Halloween costumes, with Cursed Mumei being capable of sporting the same Nightmare Face created by Mumei herself in a Passpartout stream.
      • In contrast to Fauna's green, Anuaf is black and white, Fauna's Emo Palette Swap.
    • One GuyRyS NPC spectating a break-dancing GuyRyS has them note that their heart-rate went up to at least 116, just like with IRyS during an "Idol Meeting" the one time she left her heart-rate monitor on simultaneously.
    • The password to the locked room in the BaccaRat casino being 1111 is not the first instance of that specific set of numbers being a password, as a scuffed moment in Bae's New Year Countdown stream has her accidentally left her Live2D interface program on-screen, showing her password being specifically that.
    • Before the battle against the Final Boss, Fauna gets address as "Dragon Slayer Fauna", alluding to the group's Minecraft stream where they tried to fight the Ender Dragon together, with Fauna being the one to carry the group through the shenanigans and defeat the dragon herself. The same events get referenced in a New Game Plus run with Sana recalling the events during the campfire scene.
    • Most of IRyS's skills are named after songs she's made — with a few having some wordplay, and one being a karaoke song she sung before. These include Heal (Here) Comes Hope!, BERSERKER, Rise Again, Caesura Of Despair, One Sleep at a Time, and "Gas Gas Gas".
    • Fauna's skill earned at level fifteen is Soccer Smash, which notes that using it to deal high damage also results in Fauna scoring in her own goal, referencing the time she did just that in Nintendo Switch Sports.
    • In the city of BaccaRat one of the enemies fought is a living hotdog called a Glizzy on the Loose, referring to what Fauna calls Gura's disguise in a Propnight stream.
  • New Game Plus: After clearing the game for the first time, you're given the option of starting another game with the previous file to replay the whole adventure again, this time with the entirety of CouncilRyS, Sana included, with stronger Boss Fights to face, but with all items and skills retained.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: Those affected by the "EN Curse" find themselves glitching out of reality in this manner, showcased with Fauna in the Prologue. In-Universe, it's treated as a serious scary issue at worse, and an annoyance at best. The same effect applies to the Cursed Clones upon defeating them or when Cursed Kronii summons them again, as it's implied they're a manifestation of the EN Curse given an alternate form.
  • Optional Stealth: The backroom of the Baerat hideout features Baerat enemies that turn to face away, allowing the council to sneak past them without engaging in battle if the player so wishes.
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": The bar section of the casino in BaccaRat city is guarded by someone on the other side, who'll only let the group in if they guess a four-digit number code: 1111. The guy even lampshades how easy correctly guessing the password is, even once asking his boss to change it.
  • Remember When You Blew Up a Sun?: At the campsite event during New Game Plus, Sana recalls the time the entire group fought a dragon, in reference to the Minecraft stream where their end-goal was the Ender Dragon.
  • Shout-Out:
    • One of the first healing items to obtain is Hot Butter Ice Cream.
    • When briefly discussing the EN Curse with Kronii, Fauna wonders if it's some type of morphogenetic field gone wrong.
    • One of Kronii's skills is called Power Wash, alluding to PowerWash Simulator and Kronii's stream of the game.
    • IRyS uses a spiky metal bat for her melee attacks, which just furthers the reference in one of her quotes whenever leveling up:
IRyS: Do you expect anything less from your bludgeoning angel, IRyS?
    • Cursed Mumei's theme features a brief melody from the Final Fantasy V's boss battle music.
    • Talking to a sapling in the bar has them admit to reading a lot of Brain Saw Man, a riff on Chainsaw Man.
    • Cursed Kronii's battle theme is a remix of Kronii's "Daydream", with the soundfont sampled from Magus's battle theme from Chrono Trigger.
  • Symbolically Broken Object: The broken pedestal among the six in the haunted birdhouse. Because the pedestal doesn't have its respective CouncilRyS plush, it foreshadows Sana's absence post-Final Boss, courtesy of the EN Curse. Becomes inverted in the credits, as Sana's return has CouncilRyS repair the pedestal to complete the plush collection of the group.
  • Taken for Granite: The CouncilRyS's fate at the first engagement with the Evil Doppelgangers, courtesy of clone Kronii's Medusa-like ability.
  • Teleport Spam: The CouncilRyS's plan to get the drop on Kronii's clone involves Sana invoking her teleportation ability to throw Clonii into a cycle of each member throwing their attacks at them.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Naturally from IRyS, such as when looking at a magic mirror:
IRyS: My mirror seems so clear. I feel like I could just reach into the mirror and touch myself.
    Bae: Bruh. Yabairys.
    IRyS: Huh? What?
  • Visual Pun: One of the early game enemies are a sentient pair of gardening clippers. Who do you call those that make video clips of streamers, much less Virtual Youtubers?
