Coffin of Ashes is a Chinese RPG horror game. It is available on PC and Steam.

Delilah is an ordinary school girl who is told to wait for some classmates for something, only for them to not show up. When it starts raining and Del goes to find shelter, she accidentally discovers an old mansion- and gets locked inside it. As her exploration in the mansion continues, she finds many mysterious phenomena and malevolent spirits. In this mansion covered by ashes, what's the secret hidden deep underground?

Coffin of Ashes contains examples of:

  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: In the route for the True Ending, you control Ian briefly.
  • Big Bad: The Host of the mansion is the one who trapped Deliah and the others inside and wants to experiment on them, except that he is nothing more than a brainless pawn of the Woman in White, the Superpowered Evil Side of the hostess Lucy.
  • Eldritch Location: The Mansion. It was supposed to be burnt and destroyed, but the mistress's hatred makes it stay in the condition right before the burning. When Delilah and Lilin try to push something blocking a doorway early on, it keeps reverting to the position of blocking no matter how much they push it. It takes a maid getting it out of the way before they are allowed onward.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • After Delilah and Lilin met the "twins", Lilin explained that they were not twins, but rather, split personalities of a single person who became two separate ghosts. This is exactly what happened to Lucy herself, who split up into two halves with one becoming the Big Bad.
    • Delilah can read a book about how spirits can be turned into humans. Both Lilin and Ian are human-like spirits, and the Woman in White specifically seeks to perfect the process so she can turn herself into a human.
  • Golden Ending: The true ending. All spirits except the Woman in White are able to escape, Lilin and Ian lived together with Delilah as humans.
  • Jump Scare: Some parts of the floor are weak and will break if Delilah steps on them, making a loud noise but leaving her unharmed.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: The mansion was created with memory-altering magic, which is why Delilah never remembered that she had already come into the mansion 99 times.
  • New Game Plus: After getting the Normal Ending II, this mode will be unlocked. It initially starts out like the first playthrough, but there are a few extra scenes revealing big twists, and Ian tags long with you instead of Lilin. Then near the end, you wind up going through a completely different area and the ending changes radically.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Some of the main spirits encountered, such as the rain-watching spirit's friend, the maid, and the twins.
  • The Reveal: In the second loop, it turns out that the game has been taking place in a "Groundhog Day" Loop where Delilah escapes the mansion only to be trapped there again and again, Lilin and Ian are spirits, and it all happened because Lucy, the hostess, had split herself into two beings, one of which resurrected her husband as a puppet and killed everyone to find a way to turn a spirit back into a human.
