Build tunnels, create pathways, dig for coal! It's all up to you!
Coal Mining Simulator is a Wide-Open Sandbox simulation game developed by Grande Games and published by GamePlanet and released in 2022. In the game the player takes the role of a coal mine owner and must work to build an effective coal mine. The player must dig out their mine, lay tracks, and then begin the process of safely mining coal. Money earned from selling coal can be used to buy new vehicles and improve the mine by hiring more workers. Like working in a real coal mine, safety must also be considered at all times.

Tropes found in the game

  • Drill Tank: Subverted. You can own many different machines in the game for the purpose of digging.
  • Gravity Is a Harsh Mistress: If you carelessly dig tunnels, they can collapse causing the potential entrapment of you or other workers. Truth in Television.
  • Minecart Madness: One of the game's central elements is to lay tracks for your mining equipment to travel on.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Averted. Safety must be taken into account when working in the mine so workers are not killed or trapped by falling rocks, or injured by explosions.
  • Real Is Brown: Considering that the game is set mostly in a coal mine you can expect to see a lot of brown and gray environments.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: A central element of the game is the use of TNT to blow up rock formations to retrieve coal from within them.
  • Tunnel King: Your character starts off as an expert on tunneling and wants to start a coal mine at the start of the game.
  • Underground Level: The player's mine, naturally!
  • Wide-Open Sandbox: The game has a typical "career" mode where the player can accept tasks, but most of the gameplay revolves simply around the player freely operating a coal mine.
