A first-person destructive cat simulator.

Catlateral Damage is a game by Manekoware and Fire Hose Games. Originally created for the 7DFPS game jam in August 2013, the full version was released on May 27, 2015.

The game puts you in the role of a cat left alone in a house, trying to knock down and destroy as much stuff as possible. There's also plenty of other cat activities to do, such as playing with cat toys, catching mice, unrolling toilet paper and meowing for no reason.

On September 15, 2021, an Updated Re Release version named Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered was released, adding upgrades for your cat (like increasing your speed and jump height) and having you unlock new levels through completing specific goals. It also swaps the time limit for an energy meter - when this meter is empty, the level ends.

Catlateral Damage provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Christmas Episode: The "Pawliday Den" bonus level is set in a room with a big Christmas tree, presents everywhere, and lots of Christmas decorations.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The game runs on this. Kitty's reason for destroying the place is supremely petty no matter which random one is chosen, such as their dinner being 5 minutes late or just being bored.
  • Halloween Episode: The "Furrighful Lab" bonus level, gotten from knocking down a jack-'o-lantern and set in a creepy mad scientist-style lab with skeletons and jars of eyeballs.
  • Hurricane of Puns: The game takes every opportunity to make cat-based puns, with the pause menu being called the Pawse Menu, and bonus levels having names such as The Mewseum and Supermarkat. Even the achievements/trophies get in on this, with names like "Purrfessional Cathlete" and "All Pawerful".
  • Microwave the Dog: Averted. You can pull off the microwave door and hop inside, but you can't turn it on. Same goes for the washing machine.
  • Procedural Generation: The original game has all the houses of Objective Mode be procedurally generated. While this is not the case for Remeowstered's Goals Mode, there's still a Procedural Mode for randomly generated versions of levels.
  • Pun-Based Title: Cat + Collateral damage, appropriate for a game all about causing destruction as a cat.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stylistic Suck: While most of the playable cats are represented by actual cat photos on the select screen, Mitten's picture is a scribbly-looking drawing of a cat.
  • Toilet Humor: One of the unlockable cats is called "Fart Cat", and unlike the others, this cat makes fart sounds instead of meowing when the "meow" button is pressed.
