Brawl Royale is an Adobe Flash game by Matt Roszak released in 2008, which was remade for smartphones running Android in 2021 and given a Steam release as part of the Epic Battle Fantasy Collection in 2022. It predates the Epic Battle Fantasy series, but some characters who show up here would show up in that series. You have to press space/tap the screen to attack the enemy as soon as the word "GO!" pops up. Do so too late and the opponent kills you, do so too early and you get a foul, with three fouls ending the game. Beat ten opponents with increasingly stricter victory times to win.

This game provides examples of:

  • Author Avatar: Moreso than in the later games. The blond protagonist who wields swords is literally kupo707/Kupo Games here.
  • BFS: Kupo's main method of attack is using/summoning huge swords, like the one used to kill Black Waltz and defeat Natalie.
  • Captain Ersatz: Version 2.0 was released as a paid game. As such, characters originating from other series had their designs and names changed to compensate.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • Unlike in the Epic Battle Fantasy series, Natalie is depicted as a ninja making use of katanas and shuriken, rather than as a mage.
    • Lance uses a sword here instead of a BFG and revolver/gunblade combo, and appears in more casual attire than the Nazi outfit he uses in all later appearances. Lance was originally intended to be a visual remake of Lancelot, a character from One More Final Battle. Matt Roszak would instead make a new character out of the intended redesign, after he deemed it to look completely different from Lancelot.
    • Matt breaks out a double-barrel gatling gun if he outdraws Lazarus. To date, this is the sole time he has been depicted using a firearm. He is also not named "Matt" here, instead being named "kupo707"/"Kupo Games".
  • Fission Mailed: Even if you get the first strike on Yoko, she shoots first, but Kupo manages to dodge and Falcon Punch her out.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Some phones may not be able to show the background layer in Version 2.0 properly, resulting in character icons on the versus screen, the arena, and (most importantly) the word "GO!" not showing up.
  • Groin Attack: Tonberry shoves its huge knife right into Kupo's crotch if he loses to it.
  • Harder Than Hard: Version 2.0 adds Epic mode. Playing on it will really test your reaction time.
  • The Many Deaths of You: Each opponent has a different animation used when they kill Kupo.
  • Random Power Ranking: The intro shows Kupo's stats in terms of Powah, Epic, Swords, and Flash.
  • Visual Innuendo: Natalie's defeat pose has a huge sword between her spread legs while she's in a sitting position. With a nosebleed.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Downplayed as Kupo would still do so to keep going in the tournament, but he doesn't aim to kill them, as he Falcon Punches Yoko out of the arena and uses a huge sword on Natalie in such a way that she can still crawl away.
