Description on the official Steam page

You're about to head home from a lengthy afternoon of detention when suddenly, your friend Ricky asks you to retrieve something for him. Good friend that you are, you comply... Unfortunately for you, the creepy mascot isn't too fond of students who roam the school after lights out.

Big Larry is an indie survivial/puzzle/horror game. It was developed by Xce and LumiB and published by Kaida Studios on December the 2, 2021. It's available for a small price on Steam.

Big Larry contains examples of:

  • Absurdly Ineffective Barricade: The furniture-barricades Larry sets up can be destroyed with a few hits from a crowbar. Dealt by a highschooler.
  • Antagonist Title: Big Larry is the name of the haunted mascot suit that hunts the player throughout the game.
  • Ax-Crazy: Larry for some reason decides he wants you dead and starts chasing you down after a certain point in the game.
  • Cellphones Are Useless: Implied. The player's phone only has 2% battery when the game starts, which suggests its completely out by the time Larry traps them and thus can't be used to call for help. Though it's questionable how much use a phone even would be in an Eldritch Location.
  • Controllable Helplessness: You're welcome to try and leave without playing Larry's game, but you won't get very far.
  • Closed Circle: The player becomes unable to leave Creek High after they collect Ricky's book. Whenever they try to leave a room without solving Big Larry's puzzle first, the corridors will lead them right back to their starting point. The windows and doors to the outside also disappear, leaving the protagonist no choice but to follow Larry's instructions if they don't want to be trapped forever.
  • Crowbar Combatant: The protagonist finds a crowbar at one point and uses it to get the key and smash the barricades Larry sets up to prevent them from escaping.
  • Dramatic Thunder: A thunderstorm rages throughout the game.
  • Eldritch Location: Creek High turns into one after Larry starts his "game", with the halls becoming much more narrow, labyrinthine and ominously lit, while also trapping the player until they solve the puzzles Larry sets up.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Larry starts out as rather playful, if creepy, making you play games and letting you proceed when you solve his puzzles. But once you actually get the exit key, he gets mad and chases you down, even blocking your way with furniture to keep you from escaping.
  • Foreshadowing: A newspaper article found in the English classroom talks about the death of Creek High's mascot.
  • Karma Houdini: Larry receives no comeuppance for imprisoning and trying to kill a highschooler, aside maybe from the disappointment that his victim got away this time.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: The player gets into this whole mess because they wanted to get their friend's algebra book from their classroom. If they'd just left immediately, Larry wouldn't have gotten his hands on them.
  • Notice This: Lockers you can open are yellow instead of red.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Whoever is possessing the suit has apparently completely adopted the persona, referring to himself only as Big Larry throughout the game. The newspaper article and report don't mention their actual name either and instead just refer to them as Creek High's mascot.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The eyes on the Larry-suit are red and Larry is a creepy ghost who trapped you and can kill you if you don't get away fast enough.
  • Was Once a Man: Larry used to be a regular person in a mascot suit, until he was run over and came back as a vengeful ghost.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The player is highschool age and Larry shows zero hesitation to hunt them down and murder them towards the end of the game.
