The only way to survive is to leave the past behind...

Beyond Home is a Game Mod for Kerbal Space Program released in 2019 by Gameslinx. It details what happened to the Kerbals after their star system, Kerbol, died.

There are also two other mods made by Gameslinx which detail the early and late history of the Kerbol system, called Before Kerbin and After Kerbin, respectively.

Contains examples of:

  • After the End: of Eve, Kerbin, Duna, and the Kerbol system itself, due to a Colony Drop, pollution, and the ever-encroaching sun.
  • Alien Landmass: Hydrus has procedurally drawn floating islands.
  • Apocalypse How: Kerbol turning into a red giant causes two Class Xs and a Class 6 (3a to 4 or five with Kerbin), with Moho and Eve being completely destroyed, and Kerbin getting reduced to a cinder.
    • Mün and Minmus combine into one world, called Malice, in After Kerbin, before getting destroyed, presumably by colliding with Kerbin.
    • Gilly gets destroyed in After Kerbin, likely because of the increased solar winds driving it towards Eve. Before this, Serpent (precursor to Gilly) crashes into Eve (though at the rate it was spiraling in (one meter a year), it should have been torn asunder by the Roche Limit of Eve (then called Eden), but the toxic chemicals in Serpent's crust would have still rendered Eden uninhabitable (most likely hydrocarbons to such a degree that complex life would be unable to adapt (also included is Hydrogen Peroxide/"Explodium", which in the real world poisons them in such a way that they cannot grow and divide (given that there is enough on Eve to FORM OCEANS, it's safe to say microbes aren't there anymore, making this the only class 6 in the mod series not caused by the aging sun))
    • Duna has TWO Class 6s happen to it, one in between Before Kerbin and stock KSP, and the other in Beyond Home; one because its magnetic field died, and the other because Kerbol died and destroyed any chances for life in the system. (This is not true; upon closer inspection, Laythe and Eeloo were seeded with life as the Kerbals fled the system, and at the very least Laythe still holds life even after the star has died thanks to Jool keeping it warm, though it is a forest of mushrooms)
    • Kerbin turning into Wasteland is at least a Class 3a (Kerbals evacuate the planet due to them polluting it), and could be up to a Class 5 (at the very least SOME form of microbes would still be kicking, as they have had 3 billion years to adapt to this pollution (oddly enough, Kerbin SHOULD have returned to normal (well, as normal as a planet doomed to potentially be vored by its star can be, as there shouldn't be life there, but seeing as Duna was terraformed by the Kerbals to be more habitable (there is at least plantlife on it again), that is thrown out the window), simply because microbes will survive anything up to the planet itself being gravely damaged (say, for instance, by the sun)
    • Inverted with Laythe; it GAINED life (again, forests of giant mushrooms) upon the Kerbals leaving.
  • Colony Drop: Serpent falls onto Eden in between Before Kerbin and vanilla KSP gameplay, turning them into Gilly and Eve, respectively.
    • Bop got shredded by Tylo between stock and After Kerbin, and the two have thus merged.
    • Mün and Minmus collide between stock and After Kerbin, forming Malice, and then that crashes into Wasteland/Tribute due to the dying sun.
  • Doomed Hometown: happens to Eve/Eden because Serpent crashed into it, which forms Gilly.
  • Fungus Humongous: The Mushroom forest on Tau in Beyond Home is almost certainly this.
  • Gaia's Lament: Kerbin turning into Wasteland is because the Kerbals polluted it.
  • Homeworld Evacuation: happens THREE TIMES, with Eden/Eve/Demise, Atlas/Kerbin/Wasteland/Tribute, and Seth/Duna/Solitude/Dynasty.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: A secondary theme in Before Kerbin is that all the planets (as well as Kerbol itself, but not the moons for some reason) are named after mythological deities, with the only exceptions being Pearl/Jool/Reaper/Janus and Frost/Eeloo/Eltos/Verna, although this theme is sprinkled throughout the rest of the mod series, with examples such as Archangel (Kerbol as a red giant in After Kerbin), Nemesis (likely Ike in After Kerbin), and others.
