Batman Returns is a Beat 'em Up game developed and published by Konami for release in North America and Europe in 1993. It's based on similar games made for the Nintendo Entertainment System such as Double Dragon I, Ninja Gaiden (NES) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989).

The game has six stages, where Batman moves to battle the Penguin and the Red Triangle Circus Gang either on foot or on his Batmobile and Batskiboat.

The NES version of Batman Returns contains examples of:

  • Diving Kick: Batman uses a jump diving kick as part of his fighting moves. Gamers recommend using it on the bosses to easily take down their health.
  • Parasol of Pain: The Penguin uses his umbrella in fighting Batman at the last stage by using it as a machine gun.
  • Password Save: The game allows players to continue where they left off when they finish a stage with a password provided.
  • Slide Attack: Batman kicks the enemy by sliding and kicking their legs.
  • Throw a Barrel at It: The Tattooed Strongman tosses metal barrels at Batman in his boss fight.
  • Whip of Dominance: Catwoman brings it out in her boss fight when she's close to being defeated.
